Eligibility and Employer Sponsored Plans can be found within each of the links offered.</p> <p>Essential Job Duties</p> <p>The Digital Content Specialist develops, manages, and executes digital storytelling to advance the mission and visibility of NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM).</p> <p>Reporting to the Head of Communications, Marketing and Outreach, this digital-first communicator is the bridge between story and strategy. They produce compelling, accessible, and brand-aligned content-leveraging exceptional writing, multimedia creativity, and data-driven insight-across the college's digital ecosystem (including the website, social media, and multimedia platforms). This role transforms ideas into digital experiences that inform, inspire, and connect the world to the CVM.</p> <p>Digital Strategy and Content Creation</p> <ul> <li>Plan, write and edit content for the CVM website, social media and other digital campaigns. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to develop editorial calendars, pitch ideas, and package stories that highlight the college's people, research, teaching and outreach. </li><li>Ensure accuracy, accessibility, and adherence to NC State's brand standards, editorial guidelines and AP style. </li><li>Research and translate complex scientific, academic and medical topics into clear, engaging stories for varied audiences. </li><li>Serve as a lead writer or creator for high-profile initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Editorial Excellence and Brand Stewardship</p> <ul> <li>Provide editing and feedback for content developed by others, maintaining brand voice, factual integrity, and professional standards. </li><li>Apply strong editorial judgment and ethical principles in all communications. </li><li>Advocate for best practices in writing for the web, integrated digital storytelling and accessibility compliance. </li></ul> <p>Social Media Strategy</p> <ul> <li>Manage and grow CVM's social media presence across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, BlueSky, and YouTube. </li><li>Develop and execute strategies to expand reach, engagement and community connection. </li><li>Lead live event coverage and create multimedia stories that reflect the CVM experience. </li></ul> <p>Creative Campaigns and Innovation</p> <ul> <li>Conceptualize and execute digital campaigns that amplify flagship events such as Day of Giving, Open House and research spotlights. </li><li>Partner with faculty, staff, students, and external collaborators to elevate storytelling and align messages across the university. </li><li>Experiment with new formats, technologies, and storytelling techniques to keep CVM's digital presence innovative and relevant. </li><li>Create or coordinate graphics, photos, and other visual assets to support stories. </li></ul> <p>Collaboration and Project Management</p> <ul> <li>Maintain editorial calendars, track assignments, and ensure projects meet standards for quality and timeliness. </li><li>Use analytics to evaluate story effectiveness and audience engagement. </li><li>Serve as a consultant on digital content and storytelling projects across the college. </li><li>Build strong relationships with communicators, clinicians and researchers to identify and elevate stories. </li><li>Provide training and guidance to colleagues on content best practices, analytics and digital trends. </li></ul> <p>Other Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide creative and logistical support for event coverage, photography and other communications needs. </li><li>Other tasks and responsibilities may be assigned based on the needs of the organization and evolving priorities. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, English, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. </li></ul> <p>Other Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Proven excellence in writing, editing, and storytelling across digital and print platforms. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>6-8 years of professional experience in digital communications, writing, and editing. </li><li>Proven ability to translate complex academic/scientific information into content for broad audiences. </li><li>Proficiency with content management systems (WordPress preferred), social media management tools, and analytics dashboards. </li><li>Working knowledge of basic graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva), AP style, and NC State brand guidelines. </li><li>Familiarity with SEO, web usability, and accessibility standards, preferably within higher education, science, or healthcare communications. </li></ul> <p>Required License(s) or Certification(s)</p> <ul> <li>N/A </li></ul> <p>Valid NC Driver's License required No Commercial Driver's License required No</p>
