<p>LEOMINSTER PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR</p> <p>Leominster Center for Excellence</p> <p>The Innovation and Career Academy (ICA)</p> <p>(An innovative Big Picture Learning school)</p> <p>9-12 SCIENCE TEACHER/ADVISOR</p> <p>Qualifications: Current MA Teaching License, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related Science</p> <p>The Leominster Center for Excellence (LCE), a small, student-centered public high school and proud member of the Big Picture Learning network, is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking Science Teacher/Advisor to join our team.</p> <p>LCE houses the Innovation and Career Academy (ICA). At ICA, teachers are not just content experts; they are advisors, mentors, and facilitators of real-world learning. Each advisor works closely with a cohort of approximately 15 students, guiding their academic journey, supporting their personal growth, and helping them connect classroom learning to the world beyond school. Students at ICA engage in robust internship experiences and create multidisciplinary projects that are connected to the real world and grounded in student interest. We are seeking a certified science educator to teach Biology and related sciences and help students integrate scientific disciplines and the scientific method into their projects.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach science content with a focus on Biology, while supporting interdisciplinary integration across Physics, Chemistry, Environmental Science, and other areas. </li><li>Guide students in applying the scientific method within project work and real-world investigations. </li><li>Collaborate with students and their families to create comprehensive individualized learning plans. </li><li>Plan and implement individualized learning experiences rooted in students' interests, career goals, and real-world connections. </li><li>Support students in identifying and participating in internship opportunities aligned with their goals and interests. </li><li>Evaluate and document student progress through exhibitions, portfolio work, narratives, and regular communication with families and mentors. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues to build a strong learning community and foster a positive school culture with a commitment to personal and academic growth and achievement. </li><li>Help students articulate and pursue a post-secondary plan through mentoring and academic advising. </li></ul> <p>Ideal Candidates Will:</p> <ul> <li>Hold a Massachusetts 9-12 teaching license in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related science. </li><li>Demonstrate a strong understanding of inquiry-based, student-centered instruction. </li><li>Have experience with or a strong interest in project-based learning and portfolio assessment. </li><li>Enjoy building strong, supportive relationships with students, families, and community mentors. </li><li>Balance a commitment to personalized learning with the consistent reinforcement of school and classroom norms and expectations. </li></ul> <p>If you believe that learning is most powerful when it is personalized, passion-driven, and connected to the real world, we invite you to apply and become part of a school that puts students at the center of their education.</p>
