Overall, the media assistant plays an important role in helping students and teachers use resources effectively, making learning more engaging and accessible.</p> <p>Salary Lane: ASST + Add-on - Hourly pay starting at $19.25.</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Assigned Workday Calendar: 181 days (School Year Days)</p> <p>Job Status: Full-Time - 35 Hours per Week</p> <p>Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 3:30pm</p> <p>Benefits: Full-time positions are eligible for medical, dental insurance as well as supplemental benefits such as vision, life insurance, disability, etc. Eligible for PERF Retirement.</p> <p>Paid Time Off Benefits: Eligible</p> <p>Holiday Pay: Not Eligible</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Education: A high school education is required. Advanced training is preferred. </li><li>Certification: None is required, but certification through training and professional associations is desirable. </li><li>Experience: None is required, but office experience is preferred. </li><li>Skills and Knowledge: Human relations, word processing, data entry, computer and office skills. </li><li>Other: Ability to maintain a positive relationship with pupils, staff, parents, and the community. </li></ul> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Library Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Assist students with finding and checking out books.</p> </li><li> <p>Help organize and catalog books, magazines, and other resources.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor the condition of library materials, making sure they're in good shape.</p> </li><li> <p>Media Center Assistance:</p> </li><li> <p>Help manage and maintain audiovisual equipment (like projectors, computers, and cameras).</p> </li><li> <p>Set up technology for classroom projects and events.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist teachers in integrating media resources (books, videos, etc.) into their lessons.</p> </li><li> <p>Technology Support:</p> </li><li> <p>Support students and staff in using educational software and tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Troubleshoot basic tech issues (computers, tablets, printers).</p> </li><li> <p>Media Instruction:</p> </li><li> <p>Teach students how to use library resources and technology for research and learning.</p> </li><li> <p>Help students develop skills for searching online databases, using digital tools, and evaluating online content.</p> </li><li> <p>Creating a Positive Learning Environment:</p> </li><li> <p>Foster a welcoming space where students can read, research, or work on projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize special events like author visits, book fairs, or themed reading programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaboration with Teachers:</p> </li><li> <p>Help teachers find resources and materials for lesson planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with teachers to enhance students' learning experiences through media and technology.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in professional development, as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
