<p>Job Description:</p> <p>JOB DESCRIPTION:</p> <p>The Humanities Instructional Coach is a teacher who has both content and instructional expertise particularly in reading and writing. The Instructional Coach focuses on enhancing teacher ability to provide instruction that (1) builds student understanding and skills, (2) is academically rigorous, (3) addresses the curriculum standards and framework, and (4) enhances student engagement in and ownership of learning. The Instructional Coach, together with administrators and classroom teachers, looks at student work and designs standards based, high-quality instruction. The Humanities Instructional Coach serves as a member of the building leadership and MTSS teams working to align district and building goals and to evaluate student data in support of effective school improvement planning. The Humanities Instructional Coach works collaboratively to assist in the design and delivery of professional development or curriculum as directed. As a member of a professional coaching community, the Instructional Coach participates in professional development and inquiry into his or her own instructional leadership practice.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut teaching certification, Masters degree and instructional coaching experience strongly preferred </li><li>Minimum 5 years successful teaching experience </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of CCSS, Smarter Balanced Assessment and MTSS </li><li>Deep knowledge of reading, writing, and literacy development </li><li>Deep knowledge of and experience in content, instructional strategies, conditions of learning and assessment driven instruction </li><li>Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills for building an environment with a common instructional focus, promoting initiatives, and conveying expectations </li><li>Ability to support teachers in development of differentiated lessons </li><li>Ability to model lessons demonstrating best instructional practice </li><li>Experience in analyzing data to plan for instruction </li><li>Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Instructional Services (Elementary Curriculum Director)</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Instructional Coaches will facilitate change in instructional practices of teachers that will enable teachers to diagnose student needs more analytically; plan more productively; and teach more effectively.</p> <ul> <li>Provide leadership for teachers by planning, collaborating, organizing, mentoring and facilitating change to improve the instructional program. </li><li>Provide direct support to teachers in their classrooms and offer recommendations to improve teaching and learning. </li><li>Facilitate the use of data and research-based teaching strategies and best practices to address the needs/goals of teachers and the school. </li><li>Provide staff development needed to implement the school's Literacy Plan and Strategic Operating Plan. </li></ul> <p>SUPPORTING DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Review, write and revise curriculum and assessments. </li><li>Participate in instructional rounds or walkthroughs with Building Principals and/or Central Office Administrators. </li><li>Work with principals and teachers in organizing grade level/department meetings in order to affect horizontal and vertical continuity and articulation of instructional programming throughout the school. </li><li>Provide knowledge of appropriate standards, content, materials, and resources. </li><li>Establish, maintain and enhance effective communication with administrators, teachers, parents and other stakeholders. </li><li>Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and ethical standards to advance the mission, goals and policies of Windsor Public Schools. </li><li>Demonstrate appropriate use of instructional technology and other educational tools to enhance and extend instruction. </li><li>Perform other duties related to the improvement of student achievement as determined by the Director or Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services. </li></ul> <p>Apply Online....www.windsorct.org</p>
