<p>The College of Aviation at Western Michigan University invites applications for an academic year, tenure-track faculty position. The College offers three distinct academic programs, providing faculty members the opportunity to teach within a specialized area of expertise or across multiple disciplines. This position represents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a dynamic academic community and to bring professional flight experience into the classroom to enhance student learning.</p> <p>Major Duties</p> <ul> <li>Teach up to 12 credits in the fall and spring semesters for a total of no more than 24 credits of regularly scheduled courses, or the equivalent, over an academic year. </li><li>Fulfill ongoing department curriculum needs of both a maintenance and developmental nature. </li><li>Provide leadership and service to academic and professional societies through roles in governance, editorial work, conference coordination, and committee participation to support their effective and impactful operation. </li><li>Support university operations through committee service and consultation with campus and community stakeholders. </li><li>Assist students with course advising, consulting, and individual mentoring. </li><li>Encourage and support student involvement in student organizations and internships. </li><li>Engage in scholarly activities, including research, writing, and publication appropriate to the faculty member's discipline or interdisciplinary work. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in an aviation-related field from an accredited institution.</p> </li><li> <p>FAA pilot certification to include a minimum ATP or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Significant related industry experience in one or more of the following areas:</p> </li><li> <p>Airline Flight Operations</p> </li><li> <p>Corporate/Business Aviation Flight Operations</p> </li><li> <p>Safety</p> </li><li> <p>Security</p> </li><li> <p>Human Factors</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication and computer skills.</p> </li></ul> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from an accredited institution. </li><li>College teaching experience. </li><li>Demonstrated history of research and grant writing. </li></ul> <p>Special Instructions to Applicants</p> <ul> <li>For "certificate" document, please upload copies of all FAA pilot certificates. </li></ul> <p>Additional Position Information</p> <ul> <li>WMU's College of Aviation has a storied 85-year history.
