<p>POSITION TITLE: Science Teacher (Grades 6-8)</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold proper certification through the Arkansas Department of</p> <p>Education</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Principal and Assistant Principals</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 190 days with benefits provided according to Siloam Springs</p> <p>School Board policies.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Work collaboratively with content team (Professional Learning Community) and </li></ol> <p>grade level interdisciplinary team.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Implement a variety of effective, research-based instructional strategies consistently </li></ol> <p>to engage learners with the essential learning standards.</p> <ol start="3"> <li> <p>Design instructional plans with attention to individual student abilities and interests.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and assess student progress frequently, using both formative and</p> </li></ol> <p>summative assessments, and provide progress reports as requested.</p> <ol start="5"> <li>Adjust instruction within the classroom (Tier I) to meet the needs of all learners, </li></ol> <p>reteaching when needed and extending learning for others.</p> <ol start="6"> <li>Create a classroom environment that reflects respectful interactions between </li></ol> <p>students and teachers, as well as student-to-student, while using effective</p> <p>procedures to support all learners.</p> <ol start="7"> <li>Refer students for alternative services as provided by the District (ESL, Special </li></ol> <p>Education, Gifted and Talented, counseling, health services, etc.).</p> <ol start="8"> <li> <p>Effectively implement district initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain consistent and timely parent communication using appropriate structures</p> </li></ol> <p>and resources.</p> <ol start="10"> <li>Meet or exceed professional responsibilities and professional behavior expectations. </li></ol> <p>OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.</p> </li><li> <p>Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment,</p> </li></ol> <p>materials, and facilities.</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy </li></ol> <p>and administrative regulation.</p> <ol start="5"> <li> <p>Serve on committees as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Remain current on instructional practices in education.</p> </li></ol>
