<p>The LSI internship program trains and educates students looking to start a career in the human services or related field. We will work with your schedule and curriculum requirements to determine the best fit and provide an invaluable hands-on experience. LSI currently offers unpaid internships.</p> <p>What We Do</p> <p>Lutheran Services of Iowa is a social services nonprofit that is looking for a talented student to join our</p> <p>team. You'll work with a team that enjoys working hard to meet goals and exceed expectations while</p> <p>having fun along the way.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <p>The Marketing and Communications Intern will have the opportunity to build internal/external</p> <p>relationships with agency and media partners. The intern will also gain experience with writing press</p> <p>releases and client stories, creating and posting content for social media sites, assisting with special</p> <p>events, creating promotional materials, and managing multiple projects. The ideal candidate will be</p> <p>ready to jump in, eager to learn and grow, receive feedback, and engage with the team in a meaningful</p> <p>way.</p> <p>Marketing and Communications Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>Write press releases and media pitches to promote events and attract attention for targeted</p> <p>media.</p> <p>Conduct interviews and draft client stories to be used in marketing materials, for stakeholder</p> <p>communications, and on the agency website and social media channels.</p> <p>Create social media posts and update agency channels including Facebook, Instagram, and</p> <p>LinkedIn.</p> <p>Assist with photography needs, as needed.</p> <p>Support the marketing and communications team in creating collateral pieces.</p> <p>Assist with special events including the planning, promotion, and execution.</p> <p>Adhere to LSI brand and logo guidelines.</p> <p>Complete projects according to deadlines.</p> <p>Collaborate with the marketing director and communications coordinators.</p> <p>What You'll Need</p> <p>Experience in or pursuing a degree in public relations, marketing, advertising, or a related field</p> <p>Strong communications skills, both written and verbal</p> <p>Basic skills in social media, photography, and graphic design</p> <p>Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign desired.</p> <p>Enjoys working closely with a team while also completing individual projects</p> <p>How'll We'll Support You</p> <p>Work on a wide variety of projects for multiple internal and external clients</p> <p>Create materials that can be included in a professional portfolio</p> <p>Receive support, guidance and feedback from the director of the marketing department as well</p> <p>as communications coordinators</p> <p>Gain experience in the nonprofit sector</p> <p>Join a team of eager young professionals led by a supportive director with years of creative</p> <p>professional experience</p> <p>Flexible schedule</p> <p>This position requires a valid driver's license, auto insurance, a good driving record and the ability to pass an extensive background check including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry and a criminal history check.</p>
