<p>The Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at The Citadel invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish with expertise in the Caribbean (literature, culture, and/or related fields).</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Ph.D. in Spanish or a closely related field by the time of appointment </li><li>Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English </li><li>Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level </li><li>Evidence of (or clear potential for) a strong scholarly agenda </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach all undergraduate levels of Spanish language, literature, and culture </li><li>Offer special topics and first-year (freshman) seminars as needed </li><li>Standard 4-4 teaching load at a public, state institution </li><li>Contribute to departmental service and student mentoring </li></ul> <p>The department serves the undergraduate day program of approximately 2,000 cadets and offers a robust, faculty-led summer study abroad portfolio in Spain and Latin America.
