<p>Advertised Position Title:</p> <p>Loan Specialist, Financial Aid</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Awards and certifies state and alternative loans. Includes posting information to the Banner system and online student loan systems, communicating with the state and alternative loan lenders and guarantors, and making necessary adjustments.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitors loan-related processes and resolves issues regarding loans. Includes responding to inquiries from staff in person, by instant message, by phone, or via email.</p> </li><li> <p>Returns loan funds and makes appropriate adjustments to loans, within regulatory timeframes, due to withdrawals, overawards, ineligibility, student requirements, etc.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews and processes documentation regarding loan-related eligibility issues, including defaulted loans and borrowing limits.</p> </li><li> <p>Enters data from exit counseling and reports the results to NSLDS.</p> </li><li> <p>Processes and responds to requests and reports from servicers and guarantee agencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Corresponds with students regarding loan-related issues.</p> </li><li> <p>Keeps informed of current federal regulations regarding Federal Direct Loans in order to maintain compliance with regulations</p> </li><li> <p>Provides input regarding policies and procedures related to loan processing. Assists Oserve regarding student loan inquiries from students.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Handles skip trace requests and completes and returns to proper servicer.</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes and interprets applicable federal regulations to determine eligibility, award, and originate Federal Direct Loans within timeframes that meet regulatory requirements and service expectations. Posts information to the Banner system and makes necessary adjustments.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews over awards, determines appropriate corrective action, and makes adjustments to awards as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Inputs documents related to student loans into Banner</p> </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations Knowledge of office procedures</p> </li><li> <p>Accuracy in dealing with numbers and data entry Computer skills (such as using a database to enter, view, and interpret data; MS Office, especially Word and Excel)</p> </li><li> <p>Good communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Attention to detail.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to analyze situations and determine an appropriate course of action.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to identify which regulations and procedures apply to a situation and take appropriate action.</p> </li></ul> <p>Ability to adapt to changing regulatory requirements.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Professional, courteous customer service skills.</p> </li><li> <p>In order to perform job duties, this position requires access to U.S. Department of Education systems. Thus, successful candidate may not be in default on Title IV aid or barred from access to any systems by the U.S. Department of Education.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with computer applications</p> </li><li> <p>Prior financial aid knowledge</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Classification:</p> <p>Staff</p> <p>Duty Days:</p> <p>260 Days</p> <p>Work Schedule:</p> <p>Monday - Friday 8am-5pm.
