<p>NorthStar Memorial Group is seeking a Cemetery Caretaker at Beth David Memorial Gardens in Hollywood, FL. In this role, the facilities maintenance crew gains transferable skills fostering even more of a sense of purpose.</p> <p>The Cemetery Caretaker is responsible for the overall appearance of cemetery, mausoleum, and funeral home locations, including maintenance and grounds keeping, locating grave sites, digging graves, installing crypt faces, memorials, monuments, conducting interments, entombments and inurnments, and repairs and maintenance tasks. Depending on the location to which the employee is assigned, individual responsibilities may include some, or all, of the following activities: grounds keeping, interment/memorialization, and facilities cleaning/maintenance. An employees position assignment will be based on demonstrated competence in the skills required for the next level in the job family.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Grounds Keeping:</p> </li><li> <p>All the functions of a cemetery caretaker I: Cuts grass; maintains lawn and trims around trees, walkways, and memorial markers; lays sod moves and removes flowers to and from the chapel and graveside; blows leaf and grass; edges with stick edger; clears debris and maintains drives and walkways in a safe condition; cleans ponds and fountains and hand digs/trenching.</p> </li><li> <p>Tree and shrub pruning and trimming</p> </li><li> <p>Mows grass on riding/ZTR mower</p> </li><li> <p>Planting</p> </li><li> <p>Opening and closing of cemetery gates</p> </li><li> <p>Advanced painting</p> </li><li> <p>Takes care of customer requests including but not limited to handling normal requests, vases, and leveling.</p> </li><li> <p>Opening/Closing mausoleum crypts</p> </li><li> <p>Marker installation</p> </li><li> <p>Gravesite set-ups</p> </li><li> <p>Assists lead crew member Niche/Inurnment opening/closing</p> </li><li> <p>Assists lead crew member in Niche/Crypt plate setting</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in urn disinterment</p> </li><li> <p>Minor irrigation repairs including but not limited to replacing sprinkler heads under 2 and PVC repairs</p> </li><li> <p>Fulfills work orders</p> </li><li> <p>Knows sections of the cemetery and layout of the park.</p> </li><li> <p>Understands lot pins</p> </li><li> <p>Facilities Cleaning:</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains overall appearance and cleanliness of funeral homes and/or mausoleum facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Cleans and maintains the facility, performs minor street maintenance, and advanced painting</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in loading and unloading caskets.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Valid drivers license </li><li>High School Diploma or equivalent </li><li>6 + months of experience in grounds keeping and/or maintenance </li><li>Able to operate power tools (skill saw, drill, etc.), hedge clipper/trimmer, pole saw, gators, sod cutter, tractor/dump trailer, riding lawn mower, and sump pump. </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <ul> <li>$16.00-$17.00/hr. </li></ul> <p>We are an equal-opportunity employer.
