<p>The Project Manager will work directly under the PI (Dean Jeremy Jordan) to manage and carry out all aspects of the Character Development through Sport Fan Engagement initiative, a three-year, $994,499 grant-funded project supported by the Educating Character Initiative at Wake Forest University. This university-wide initiative leverages collegiate sports fandom to cultivate ethical reasoning, teamwork, empathy, and community among undergraduate students.</p> <p>The Project Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all aspects of the initiative, including: coordinating cross-campus partnerships with Hendricks Chapel, Athletics, Newhouse School, School of Education's CEPP, Student Living, and Student Experience; recruiting and managing annual cohorts of 200-300 students; planning and executing campus-wide ethical fandom campaigns, events, speaker series, and the annual Character and Fandom Summit; serving as liaison for budget coordination with Falk College budget office and OSP; supporting the concurrent research study on sport fandom and character development; managing data collection and IRB compliance; coordinating clinical simulations and student leadership development; and preparing assessment reports and program documentation for stakeholders and potential funders.</p> <p>This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200United.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Sport Management, Public Administration, or related field preferred; bachelor's degree required. </li><li>Minimum 3-5 years of project management experience in higher education, student development, or community engagement. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives with competing priorities. </li><li>Proven track record building partnerships across diverse organizational units. </li><li>Experience with grant budget coordination and financial reporting. </li><li>Understanding of college student development theory and character education principles. </li><li>Excellent communication skills. </li><li>Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management software, survey platforms, and data management tools. </li><li>Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of sport culture and intercollegiate athletics; research coordination and IRB compliance experience; event planning and logistics management; grant writing experience; familiarity with university financial systems and sponsored programs administration. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Strategic thinking and planning; attention to detail and organizational excellence; problem-solving and adaptability; cultural competency and inclusive practice; stakeholder engagement and relationship building; data-driven decision making; initiative and self-direction; commitment to ethical leadership and character development. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate all initiative activities across campus partners; develop and maintain project timelines and deliverables; recruit and engage annual cohorts of 200-300 students; oversee ethical fandom campaigns, events, speaker series, and annual Summit; facilitate communication among partner units; maintain program documentation and implementation guides. </li><li>Support research study on sport fandom and character development; coordinate data collection including surveys, focus groups, and interviews; ensure IRB compliance; manage participant recruitment and research databases; assist with research reports, publications, and presentations. </li><li>Support research study on sport fandom and character development; coordinate data collection including surveys, focus groups, and interviews; ensure IRB compliance; manage participant recruitment and research databases; assist with research reports, publications, and presentations. </li><li>Build relationships with Athletics, CEPP, Newhouse Sports Media Center, Student Living, Division of Student Experience, and University Communications; coordinate game-day programming, clinical simulations, media literacy programming, residence hall integration, and storytelling efforts. </li><li>Serve as liaison between PI, Falk College budget office, and OSP; coordinate budget requests and expenditure approvals; track spending and maintain financial records; prepare budget status reports; facilitate communication on financial needs and compliance; assist with sustainability planning and future funding identification. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
