<p>Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday (8am - 4:30pm)</p> <p>Performing under the direction of the RN/LPN and as a member of the unit-based patient care team, the Patient Care Assistant/Unit Coordinator (PCA/UC) performs duties of direct and indirect patient care. The direct patient care tasks includes but are not limited to activities of daily living, vital signs, glucometry, EKG's, weights and Intake/Output data collection. Indirect patient care activities include, but are not limited to, transport, restocking and/or obtaining patient care supplies. In addition, the PCA /UC is responsible for responding in a timely manner to the needs of patients and family members and taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit. They function within policies, procedures and guidelines of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with Joint Commission, CDC and OSHA standards. In addition the PCA/UC will perform clerical, receptionist and unit coordinating duties on individual patient care units.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Essential Job Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Clinical responsibilities include rooming patients, taking vitals, procedures, prescription renewals, triage of patient phone calls, review charts, lab test results, scheduling patients, responding to provider messages </li><li>Prepares exam rooms for providers between patient contact </li><li>Obtain prior authorizations (Office visits, Prescriptions, and procedures/surgeries) </li><li>Assist in the in-bound/out-bound referral process </li><li>Prepare the medical chart including importing medications from pharmacy, preloading vaccines, documenting pre-visit forms </li><li>Administering vaccines </li><li>Assist in scheduling new and established patient appointments as needed </li><li>Communicates well over the phone with patients and other healthcare professionals using professional communication skills and promotes leading practices phone standards </li><li>Evaluate patient phone calls </li><li>Assist in inbox management and refills according to SMA policy </li><li>Monitor and work appropriately in Electronic Medical Record environment and office workflows </li><li>Ability to adapt in a busy office environment to meet care standards </li><li>Understanding of supply management processes and needs </li></ul> <p>Sturdy Memorial Hospital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
