<p>Job Description</p> <p>Overview</p> <ul> <li>Full-time/Days/40 hours per week </li><li>Hours: 8:00am-4:30pm </li><li>Location: Primarily at 10300 N Illinois St, Suite 2200, Carmel, IN 46290, -will also be required to round to the Methodist Professional Center </li><li>Daily tasks required by this position: Functional lead of clinic ophthalmic techs, conducts audits, rounding to both adult clinics, lead huddles, technician scheduling, collaboration regarding clinic flow, coach/mentor/develop staff including new hires. </li><li>High School Diploma/GED. 3-5 Years of Experience. Associate's degree preferred. </li><li>Requires Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel. </li><li>Requires Certified Ophthalmic Tech (COT) certification within 2 years of hire into position </li></ul> <p>Responsible for ophthalmic, diagnostic procedures and ophthalmic/medical assistance in support of the clinical activities of the department. Performs preliminary ophthalmic examinations. Explains testing procedures to patients. Assists providers with post-op surgery patients. Maintains diagnostic equipment. Cleans all equipment in exam rooms consistent with current infection control policies. Will stock exam rooms and work areas, while checking for expired supplies. Expected to assist in minor OR procedures and ocular injections. Expected to provide back-up support for other departments as needed. Educates clinical/technical staff regarding the performance of ophthalmic diagnostic tests. Will precept current Ophthalmic Tech team members or Ophthalmic Tech Externs as requested by leadership. Performs higher level functions appropriate for clinic defined by leadership. Participates in team-based process improvement projects.</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma/GED. 3-5 Years of Experience. Associate's degree preferred. </li><li>Requires Basic Life Support certification through the AHA. Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies. </li><li>Requires knowledge of infection control principles. </li><li>Requires ability to effectively prioritize multiple patient care needs. </li><li>Requires knowledge and skills necessary to assess and provide care appropriate to the age and developmental level of the patients served. </li><li>Requires knowledge of exam room; chair-side and/or laser assistance. </li><li>Requires 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a health care setting. </li><li>Requires Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) Certification by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel. </li><li>Requires Certified Ophthalmic Tech (COT) certification within 2 years of hire into position by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel. </li><li>Knowledge of ophthalmic diagnostic testing which may include but not limited to OCT, HVF, GVF, Fundus Photography, Topography, Pachymetry, IOL Measurements blood pressure and heart rate; corneal topography; specular microscopy; keratometry; dark adaptometry; Electro-Oculogram (EOG); Electro-Retinogram (ERG); visual evoked potential (VEP); A-scans and B-scans. </li><li>Ability to Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and training; Provide career development planning and opportunities. </li></ul>
