<p>GENERAL SUMMARY</p> <p>Under general supervision and following established policies, procedures and professional guidelines, assessable to the laboratory as needed for on-site, telephone or electronic consultation and is responsible for the day-to-day supervision or oversight of the laboratory operation and personnel performing testing and reporting results. Responsible for leading or performing routine and specialized technical analyses; operates and maintains instrumentation according to established laboratory procedures and protocols; monitors test performance; performs and appropriately documents all quality control associated with tests. Exercises independent judgment in recognizing and solving test related problems. Specific test procedures will vary depending on laboratory section assigned. With the section Manager, interviews, hires, schedules, provides orientation, evaluates, asses competency and, when necessary, disciplines and recommends disciplinary action and discharge of staff. Acts as a resource to staff for resolution of more technically difficult problems with tests or equipment and assists with customer problems staff is unable to answer or resolve. Ensures remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital. Leads or performs technical job duties as specified in CAP Regulations. Personnel Requirement for Tests of High Complexity - Testing Personnel Responsibilities.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry or related area and completion of training in an NACCLS approved program. Must meet and maintain the qualifications for personnel performing high complexity testing as outlined in CLIA 88 regulations. One year training period and on-the-job training.</p> <p>Current Florida Licensure as a Medical Technologist. Must have a supervisor license and ASCP Certification Preferred.</p>
