<p>Responsibilities for this Position</p> <p>Engineer - Embedded SW</p> <p>US-CT-Groton</p> <p>Job ID: 2026-17731</p> <p>Type: Full-Time</p> <p># of Openings: 7</p> <p>Category: Engineering</p> <p>EB Groton Shipyard</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>Department 454 Tactical Software Engineering applies software and computer engineering skills to specify, design, develop, integrate, test, and subcontract manage software development for US Navy Nuclear Submarines.</p> <p>Collaborating with systems engineers, tactical submarine software is developed and maintained for a variety of submarine platforms and control systems such as: Ship Control, Combat Launch Control, Weapons Stowage and Handling, as well as other specialized embedded real-time safety critical shipboard and database systems, simulators, and land based trainers. Knowledge of the software development lifecycle is required for this position.</p> <p>Additional responsibilities include software research and development, preparing presentations, participating in NAVSEA design reviews and interfacing closely with hardware and system engineering departments.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Must be highly motivated, perform work independently, as well as interact with other groups and organizations in an engineering environment </li><li>Must possess strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering </li><li>0-5 years of engineering experience </li><li>Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrable knowledge of software programming languages, such as Ada, C/C++, Java, etc. </li><li>Understanding of Linux Operating System </li><li>Familiarity with Git and GitLab for configuration management </li><li>Understanding of requirements analysis, software design, code and unit test, and software/hardware integration </li><li>Networking knowledge is highly desirable </li></ul>
