<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Administration/Coordinator</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>5/30/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>Central Office</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>07/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>Until Filled</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>HAMDEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS</p> <p>HAMDEN, CT 06517</p> <p>Title:</p> <p>Coordinator of Elementary Special Education</p> <p>Employee Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Connecticut certification as an Intermediate Administrator. </li><li>Master's Degree and/or Connecticut certification in Special Education or a Related Service Area (i.e. School Psychology, Social Work or Speech and Language Pathology) </li><li>Minimum of three years' experience teaching students with disabilities, working in a related service area as noted above, and/or serving as an administrator of special education programming at the elementary or secondary levels </li><li>Extensive knowledge of psycho-educational assessment, the Planning and Placement Team process, and special education programs and procedures. </li><li>Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills </li><li>An ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Qualification Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>Reports To:</p> <p>Director of Pupil Personnel Services</p> <p>Job Goal:</p> <p>To supervise, evaluate, and support special education teachers, school psychologists, and social workers as assigned.</p> <p>Essential Performance Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Oversee and supervise all functions related to the elementary special education programming at the assigned elementary schools. </li><li>Collaborate with various members of the school community to identify needs and services related to Extended School Year (ESY) programming. </li><li>Oversee and coordinate the hiring of special education and related services staff at the assigned elementary schools.
