<p>Description</p> <p>Performs responsible human support work supervising the safe use of public swimming facilities by pool visitors; does relate work as required. Position reports to the Recreation Supervisor.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <ul> <li>Ensures safety of all participants. </li><li>Provides emergency life saving services to swimmers in need. </li><li>Maintains discipline in lessons. </li><li>ensures an atmosphere of professionalism, friendliness and safety. </li><li>Observes actions of swimmers and enforces water safety rules. </li><li>Assist lifeguards with deck preparations if necessary. </li><li>Organize, set up and store all teaching supplies. </li><li>Maintain accurate daily attendance records for your classes. </li><li>Fill out progress reports completely and prior to last day of class. </li><li>Arrange for coverage of class in event of absence. </li><li>Attend all required staff meetings and trainings. </li><li>Adheres to Blood Borne Pathogens protocols. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Typical Qualifications</p> <p>Experience working with children; prior teaching experience preferred, but not required.</p> <p>qualified candidates must be able to successfully pass practical water skills test, including stroke demonstration and endurance.</p> <p>Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 10 pounds of force constantly.</p> <p>Supplemental Information</p> <p>Required Certifications include:</p> <p>ARC Fundamentals of Instructor Training</p> <p>ARC Water Safety Instructor Certification or equivalent Swim Instructor Certifications</p> <p>Current ARC CPR or CPR/PR or equivalent</p> <p>ARC Lifeguard or equivalent or YMCA YASA</p> <p>ARC First Aid</p> <p>Employer City of Spartanburg</p> <p>Address P.O.
