<p>Apply Now</p> <p>JOB OVERVIEW: This position assists in directing and supervising daily park maintenance operations in a major regional park or a designated group of parks. Work is performed under the direct supervision of Superintendent of Parks.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Plans, organizes, and directs daily on-site maintenance needs of park grounds, buildings, and facilities within an assigned park or group of parks. </li><li>Supervises and schedules daily work assignments including maintenance of grounds, buildings, amenities, historic sites, landscape areas, and special project areas by assessing park conditions, work progress and special project commitments. </li><li>Participates in work required to effectively operate and maintain a safe, clean and attractive park system. </li><li>Work may include but is not limited to mowing/trimming of park grounds, restrooms and shelter cleaning/maintenance, litter and debris removal, routine maintenance/repair of park facilities. </li><li>Participates in the construction of park facilities/areas, including, but not limited to, picnic areas, native grassland and wildflower areas, playgrounds, shelters, nature trails, wetlands, biking trails, open turf play areas, wildlife habitat areas. </li><li>Coordinates efforts required to complete major projects and special events by determining resource requirements and ensuring availability of staff, equipment, materials and other special needs. </li><li>Participate in recruitment and selection process of full-time and intermittent staff. </li><li>Trains subordinates in a variety of functions by providing written and oral instruction and by demonstrating proper procedure and equipment operation. </li><li>Responsible for providing materials, equipment and training opportunities to assure a safe working environment for members of immediate work unit. </li><li>Physically participates in construction of park facilities and user areas including picnic areas, equestrian trails, wildlife habitat areas, etc. </li><li>Submit annual budget and monitor operating budget. </li><li>May be periodically required to assist in Park Programming and activities outside of normal job duties and hours. </li><li>Assists in development of bid specifications for services, equipment, and materials. </li><li>Monitors park and capital improvement projects to assure compliance with project plans and receives, researches, and assists in resolving complaints from the general public. </li><li>Develops an effective working relationship with the public and co-workers in and outside of immediate work unit. </li><li>May prepare daily and/or monthly reports as required by immediate supervisor. </li><li>Performs grading and excavating land to improve grounds. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education</p> </li><li> <p>General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>Vocational/technical training in park/grounds maintenance.</p> </li><li> <p>Certifications</p> </li><li> <p>A valid class A Commercial driver's license with air brake certification, or have the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.</p> </li><li> <p>Playground Safety Inspection Certification (CPSI) will be required to obtain within the first 12 months of employment.
