<p>SUBJECT: SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST - PRESCHOOL - CPPI GRANT FUNDED</p> <p>REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION AND INTERVENTION SERVICES</p> <p>ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:</p> <p>This position is accountable for coordinating the responsibility of providing diagnostic and therapeutic services though sound judgment, creativity and resourcefulness consistent with the federal and state laws and policies of the Worcester Public Schools and in compliance with state and federal Special Education regulations.</p> <p>In addition, this position includes responsibilities under the Commonwealth Preschool Partnership Initiative (CPPI) Grant, which supports early childhood education and intervention services. The therapist will maintain a caseload at community-based preschool programs and Head Start locations, reporting directly to the CPPI Coordinator and working collaboratively with a team of service providers dedicated to supporting inclusive practices in early education settings. This is a grant funded position that will be contingent upon the continuation of the CPPI grant.</p> <p>PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: (to be included along with other responsibilities)</p> <ol> <li>Work with the CPPI Early Childhood Coach and BCBA to provide Professional development to community based preschool staff </li><li>Responsible for the diagnostic and therapeutic services and programs within the educational environment through creativity and resourcefulness which leads to the educational growth and development of targeted students. </li><li>Responsible for the coordination of effective therapy presentation techniques to enhance the learning and retention process. </li><li>Responsible for serving as a member of the Special Education Team in writing educational plans and progress reports on SAGE-IEP, and completing assessments within the required timelines. </li><li>Responsible for following the students' IEPs and ensuring compliance with state and federal SPED regulations including the delivery of high quality services and the provision of accommodations/modifications for instruction and assessment. </li><li>Responsible for the coordination of techniques of testing/confirmation of level accomplishment. </li><li>Responsible for the coordination of effective techniques to gain cognitive development. </li><li>Responsible for the coordination of demonstrating effective techniques to gain cognitive development. </li><li>Responsible for the identification and referral procedures for students requiring special needs. </li><li>Responsible for the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of communication disorder for students ages 3.0 to 21. </li><li>Responsible for the preparation of written reports upon the completion of an evaluation. </li><li>Responsible for attending team meetings, section 504 regular education team meetings, and student support process meetings. 12. Responsible for communicating and collaborating with parents, teachers and other school personnel to provide recommendations for class accommodations, modifications, and appropriate referrals </li><li>Responsible for the development and implementation of goals as specified in the student's Individualized Educational Program or 504 Accommodation Plan. </li><li>Responsible for monitoring and documenting progress towards IEP goals and 504 Plans. </li><li>Responsible for creating and coordinating a schedule of services for students to ensure all IEP requirements are met. </li><li>Responsible for guiding and supervising speech/language assistants in the instruction/support of speech/language services to students with IEPs and 504 plans. </li><li>Responsible for the promotion of equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure equitable opportunities for student learning in the least restrictive environment. </li><li>Responsible for assuring equal educational opportunity to all individuals regardless of race, color, gender, age, marital status, religion, gender identity, national origin, sexual orientation, homelessness, or disability. </li><li>Performance of other job-related duties as assigned. </li></ol> <p>REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Masters Degree </li><li>Massachusetts Licensure in Speech Language and Hearing Disorders all levels </li><li>American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competency </li></ol> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ol> <li>Advanced educational preparation </li><li>Experience with preschool aged students and/or Early Intervention </li><li>Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs </li><li>Demonstrated experience with second language acquisition </li><li>Ability to speak Albanian, Arabic, Nepali, Portuguese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Twi or an African Language </li><li>SEI endorsement </li></ol> <p>WORK YEAR: 184 days</p> <p>SALARY: Appropriate step on Teachers' Salary Schedule.</p> <p>TO APPLY: Any person interested in this position should apply on-line at www.worcesterschools.org.
