<p>Piper Companies is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to support a fast-growing, technology-driven insurance organization. The Lead Engineer will be responsible for architecting, designing, and delivering technical solutions across core systems including CRM, CCM, vendor platforms, and cloud-based applications. This role will lead engineering efforts, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and guide development through all phases of the SDLC.</p> <p>Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer include:</p> <ul> <li>Design end-to-end technical solutions and lead implementation across multiple platforms </li><li>Oversee development teams and provide hands-on engineering leadership </li><li>Architect scalable, secure applications leveraging Node.js, React, AWS, and DynamoDB </li><li>Evaluate existing systems, propose modernization strategies, and implement improvements </li><li>Manage vendor-supported platforms such as Zendesk (CRM), SmartCom (CCM), and Axway (MFT) </li><li>Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket and automation tools </li><li>Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to translate requirements into technical designs </li><li>Conduct code reviews, enforce engineering standards, and mentor developers </li><li>Troubleshoot production issues and drive root-cause analysis across application layers </li><li>Maintain documentation and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture and governance policies </li></ul> <p>Qualifications for the Lead Engineer include:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, technology, or related field </li><li>8+ years of progressive software engineering experience, including web services and application components </li><li>Strong experience with AWS, Node.js, React, JavaScript, and DynamoDB </li><li>Proven full-stack development expertise with ability to lead technical delivery </li><li>Strong communication skills and ability to guide cross-functional teams </li><li>Experience supporting applications in the insurance domain </li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions amid uncertainty </li></ul> <p>Compensation for the Lead Engineer includes:</p> <ul> <li>$120,000 - $135,000 annual range plus full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), paid time off, holidays, and legally required sick leave </li></ul> <p>On-site requirement - three days per week at the Durham, NC office</p> <p>This role becomes available for applicants on 2/23/2025, and the application window will remain open for at least 30 days from the listed posting date.</p> <p>Keywords: Lead Engineer, full-stack engineering, AWS, Node.js, React, JavaScript, DynamoDB, CRM, CCM, MFT, Zendesk, SmartCom, Axway, SDLC, CI/CD, Bitbucket, cloud solutions, systems architecture, modernization strategy, enterprise platforms, vendor management, insurance technology, technical leadership, engineering governance, application support</p> <p>#LI-AR2</p> <p>#LI-HYBRID</p>
