<p>Position Title: CVD/PVD Coating Engineer (Manufacturing)</p> <p>I. Summary of Role</p> <p>This position is responsible for all engineering aspects related to Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating processes within a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include process optimization, equipment support, materials analysis, quality oversight, and leading system improvements.</p> <p>Candidates with hands-on engineering experience in chemical, materials, or mechanical disciplines are encouraged to apply. Experience with CVD/PVD is preferred but not required; candidates with strong hands-on process or equipment experience will be fully trained.</p> <p>II. Duties & Responsibilities</p> <p>Process Engineering</p> <ul> <li> <p>Daily control, monitoring, and continuous improvement of CVD/PVD coating processes.</p> </li><li> <p>Inspection and evaluation of critical coating characteristics.</p> </li><li> <p>Historical analysis of equipment performance, process behavior, and quality trends.</p> </li></ul> <p>Equipment Engineering</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform advanced preventative maintenance.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide technical troubleshooting, including electrical and electronic systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop design specifications for equipment supporting CVD/PVD operations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Documentation & Training</p> <ul> <li> <p>Create, implement, and audit procedures and work instructions.</p> </li><li> <p>Develop technician skill assessments and training materials.</p> </li><li> <p>Coach and train team members to improve equipment performance and process consistency.</p> </li></ul> <p>Project Management</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead new process introductions, qualifications, and equipment installations.</p> </li><li> <p>Drive complex problem-solving efforts using systematic, data-driven methodologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Follow through on corrective actions, implementation plans, and validation.</p> </li></ul> <p>Continuous Improvement</p> <ul> <li> <p>Build deep understanding of evolving coating technologies and processes.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify opportunities for system improvement and lead cross-functional teams.</p> </li></ul> <p>IV. Required Skills & Knowledge</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience with thin-film deposition, precision fabrication tools, or related manufacturing technologies.</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of vacuum systems, gas delivery/distribution, control systems, and process controls.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to troubleshoot electrical/electronic control systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Working knowledge of materials science, materials chemistry, or related disciplines.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with surface treatments relevant to CVD/PVD deposition.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to work effectively across functions.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with Lean manufacturing principles; Black Belt training desirable.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., Minitab).</p> </li></ul> <p>VII. Education Guidelines</p> <ul> <li> <p>BS in Engineering (Chemical, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering).</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 3-5+ years of relevant experience.</p> </li></ul> <p>VIII. Experience Guidelines</p> <ul> <li> <p>3-5 years in an R&D or manufacturing environment.</p> </li><li> <p>1-2 years of project management experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Proven ability in planning, executing, and delivering projects.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience as an equipment engineer or field service engineer in a matrix organization is highly desirable.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with vacuum processing equipment, gas distribution systems, or CVD/PVD technologies is preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <p>Due to operational requirements, applicants must be U.S. Citizens or U.S. Permanent Residents.
