Step Salary System to be awarded annually on the anniversary date of hire and would typically start at Step 1. Please note the salary range indicated is firm.</p> <p>Bargaining Unit: BCHASA</p> <p>To view the respective collective bargaining agreement please click here.</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Building Commissioner</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: N/A</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <p>The essential functions or duties listed below are illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.</p> <ul> <li>Performs a range of administrative and clerical services including but not limited to greeting and directing visitors </li><li>Answering and transferring phone calls </li><li>Enters or scans purchase orders in to the department's financial software database management system </li><li>Processes the department's payroll for all custodians and Public Property personnel </li><li>Maintains employee time and attendance records </li><li>Processes account payable, and maintains department records </li><li>Maintains the vacant/abandoned buildings registry </li><li>May be required to serve as the secretary for the City's Zoning Board of Appeals which consists of preparing and posting meeting agendas, preparing meeting packets for all members, notifying abutters of what is being presented to the ZBA in their neighborhood, and to type and distribute minutes of ZBA meetings to abutters. </li><li>Provides back-up staff support to the Executive Assistant and Building Commissioner as requested. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Commissioner or their designee </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED AT HIRE:</p> <p>Must have an Associate's degree or a journeyman's level of trade knowledge; a minimum of three to five (3-5) years prior work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:</p> <p>Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of department office procedures including the recording of purchase orders, department operating policies and procedures </li><li>Knowledge of technology including but not limited to office software (word processing and spread sheet applications) </li><li>Financial database management software (i.e. Munis), and the Internet and email in support of department operations </li></ul> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to interact effectively and appropriately with disgruntled members of the public and other department personnel </li><li>Ability to perform multiple tasks such as various meeting minutes in a timely, detailed and accurate manner; and maintain confidential information </li><li>Ability to take initiative and to understand and accurately follow oral and written instructions </li><li>Ability to make arithmetical computations accurately </li><li>Ability to write legibly, and to perform keyboarding accurately and at an efficient rate of speed </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Proficient skill in the operation of a personal computer, office equipment, and the application of office software including word processing, spread sheet, and data base management applications </li><li>Proficient business mathematical skills, recordkeeping, keyboarding and customer service skills </li><li>Proficient written and oral communication skills </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Comprehensive Benefits</p> <p>When you embark on a career with the City of Brockton, you are offered an outstanding suite of employee benefits that add to the overall value of your compensation package.
