<p>We are hiring Part-Time Phlebotomist!!</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform venipuncture and blood draws using straight needles and butterfly needles, ensuring safe and efficient collection from pediatric (ages 2+), adult, and geriatric patients. </li><li>Explain venipuncture, blood draw, and other specimen collection procedures (such as urine or fecal collection) clearly and courteously to patients to ensure understanding and comfort. </li><li>Collect, label, and store specimens according to established procedures and specific test requirements to maintain specimen integrity. </li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify all information to ensure 100% accuracy before processing. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>At least 2 years of experience as a phlebotomist. </li><li>Proficiency in venipuncture and blood drawing using straight needles, including recent and consistent experience. </li><li>Experience drawing blood from pediatric (ages 2+), adult, and geriatric patients. </li><li>Strong phlebotomy skills including blood collection, labeling, and handling of specimens. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This is a part-time role of approximately 20 hours per week in a clinical setting that includes both a behavioral hospital and a patient service center. The phlebotomist will float between a hospital in New Lenox and a patient service center in Orland Park based on patient volume; when the hospital is slower, work will be performed at the patient service center. The hospital averages about 30-40 patients per day, with this workload shared between two phlebotomists. The schedule requires availability between 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on weekdays, along with open availability on weekends and holidays to support patient needs. Initial training will take place at the Orland Park patient service center for one week on a full-time schedule, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment is fast-paced and patient-focused, with frequent interaction with adult and geriatric patients and some pediatric patients. Work involves standard clinical and laboratory equipment, including needles, collection tubes, centrifuges, and specimen transport materials, and requires adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.
