<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Adjunct Instructor: Introduction Level Technical Theatre Course</p> <p>The Bunker Hill Community College Performing Arts Department is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adjunct Professor of Theatre to teach THR 109: Play Production in Spring 2025. The successful candidate will play a vital role in shaping students' understanding of stagecraft while collaborating with the spring black-box production for experiential learning opportunities.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver engaging and comprehensive instruction in Theatrical Stagecraft, emphasizing project-based learning and safety practices in technical theatre. </li><li>Develop a syllabus that addresses the fundamental aspects of technical theatre, including scenic construction, lighting, sound, costuming, stage management, and production safety. </li><li>Supervise and guide students in developing technical skills necessary for theatre production. </li><li>Coordinate with the spring production Technical Director and Theatre Program Coordinator to integrate student learning/projects into black-box production work. </li><li>Maintain a safe and organized scene shop and ensure proper care and maintenance of all technical theatre equipment. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>MA/MFA in Theatre, or a related field. Plus, professional experience in technical theatre. </li><li>Strong organizational and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to teach and mentor students in a diverse and collaborative academic environment. </li><li>Knowledge of industry safety standards and best practices. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>MFA in Theatre Design, or a related field. </li><li>Significant professional experience in technical theatre, with demonstrated expertise in the various technical sub-areas. </li><li>Previous teaching experience, particularly at the college or university level. </li><li>Our students come from a variety of cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and we are dedicated to providing them with the support they need to succeed.
