With professionalism and integrity, our agency offers services to families to ensure safe, stable homes for the children of the Commonwealth. A Social Service Aide provides professional assistant to social service workers in meeting the needs of our vulnerable families. This includes transporting committed youth to family visitations, placements, or health appointments. The employee supervises visitations and records interactions between the foster children and their birth parents. The Social Service Aide is expected to perform at the highest quality to ensure services to the vulnerable citizens. This may include out of state travel. </li><li>Supervise visits between children and birth parents or other family members. </li><li>Identify and report potential crisis situations to caseworkers and supervisors. </li><li>Retrieve and deliver documents such as court reports, medical records, and forms signed by the birth parents. </li><li>Assist caseworkers with the entry of electronic case data. </li><li>Assist other offices within the region as needed. </li></ul> <p>The ideal candidate will have:</p> <ul> <li>Experience working with families and children. </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Good time management and organizational skills. </li><li>The ability to work well under pressure. </li><li>A willingness to work as part of a team. </li></ul> <p>If you are interested in a challenging, yet rewarding opportunity, we would love to review your application for a Social Service Aide I position with DCBS.</p> <p>The position you are applying for has access to or use of federal tax information (FTI) or meets the statutory definition of front-line staff. For more information on E-Verify, or if you believe that CHFS has violated its E- Verify responsibilities, please contact Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at 888-897-7781 or https://www.e-verify.gov/.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION: Must have fifty-four (54) semester hours from a college or university.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of experience in providing support services and/or transport services to individuals or families or working with the public.</p> <p>Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE</p> <p>Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience working with the public will substitute for the required college on a year-for-year basis.</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Work may involve extensive contact with youth who have been abused, have behavior disorders and/or are status offenders.
