<p>An employee in this classification, under the general direction of the Museum Manager and direct supervision of the Museum Event Coordinator, will support private and public rentals, various private and Museum sponsored events, and open hours at the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm.</p> <p>This job narrative is for informational purposes only and is not intended to be all-inclusive or limiting relative to specific job duties.</p> <p>The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. </p> <ul> <li>Provides a positive and professional experience for all Museum patrons by assisting with questions and sharing relevant information. </li><li>Handles money and process transactions at the front desk and during public programs with high accuracy. </li><li>Performs opening and closing procedures, ensuring all buildings are secure and prepared for public or private use. </li><li>Assists with event logistics before, during, and after programs, including setting up and breaking down tables and chairs, monitoring spaces, enforcing facility rules, and performing custodial duties to keep the Museum clean. </li><li>Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the public and Museum and City staff. </li><li>Performs manual labor including lifting, bending, and carrying objects up to 50 pounds (such as event equipment or light shoveling). </li><li>Handle the physical setup and removal of tables, chairs, and equipment for all events. </li><li>Follows written and/or oral instructions on an independent basis under general direction. </li><li>Demonstrates integrity and honesty; maintains confidentiality as appropriate to the work. </li><li>Works non-traditional shifts including day, afternoon, and evenings, as well as weekends and holidays. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li><li>Minimum 18 years of age. </li><li>Valid Michigan Driver's License </li><li>Satisfactory completion of background check, including driving record (no more than 4 points currently on record), work history and review of criminal conviction history. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED equivalent. </li></ul> <p>PREFERENCES</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience in hospitality, event management, or museum services. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL AND WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The physical and work environment characteristics described in this description are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
