<p>$5,000 sign-on bonus with a two-year commitment </p> <p>Up to $5,000 in relocation reimbursement for qualified candidates</p> <ul> <li>-- </li></ul> <p>Reporting to the Associate Dean of Nursing & Health Sciences, the incumbent will teach discipline-specific courses as needed using a variety of methodologies.</p> <p>Responsibilities will include course preparation and instruction; curriculum development; participation in the college community and continued professional growth activities; and creative program building based on needs assessment and collaboration with other faculty. May be asked to teach other courses in disciplines in which they are credentialed.</p> <p>Besides traditional class structuring, the college is also attempting to meet the varying needs of our students by offering weekend, year-round, and compressed courses of instruction and services. Since service to our students is our highest priority, instructors can expect to participate in innovative methods, and assignments may be multi-campus and/or at clinical agency locations, with the possibility of interactive, online, day, evening, and/or weekend classes.</p> <p>In addition to a competitive salary and relocation for these 9-month positions, we offer generous time off including a two-week winter break and a one-week spring break, 10 sick days annually, up to 3 personal days (from the sick leave bank), retirement, medical/dental/vision insurance, life insurance at 2x base salary, and more.</p> <ul> <li>-- </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Prepare for and facilitate learning in the assigned courses according to the College's core values. Establish a professional and safe learning environment. Set the classroom tone by modeling appropriate workplace skills and behavior. Maintain a positive climate for learning through effective classroom management and enforcement of the Student Code of Conduct.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet student learning needs by incorporating a variety of teaching methods and assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain student records and documentation. Submit grades within the expected timeframe. Provide timely verbal and written feedback to students to ensure continued growth and development.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in the development, implementation, evaluation, and updating of the curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with College staff to recruit students. Assist with student recruitment by participating in college recruitment events, partnering with recruitment staff, maintaining relationships with alumni, and proactively promoting the College and its services.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with College staff to retain students and help them be successful. Work with Student Services to provide guidance to students. Assist in advising students regarding course enrollment, program and course content, lifelong learning, and other program-related subjects.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with internal customers, including student services staff, adjunct faculty, and other College staff, to provide consistent, effective learning and support for students. Stay current with internal and external changes and provide input by participating in college meetings and activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Build and maintain ongoing relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners. Participate in external meetings and activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participate in professional growth activities such as networking and sharing with faculty across the College and professional organizations; accepting and incorporating guidance and support from peers and supervisors; staying up-to-date with technology trends; maintaining occupational competencies; staying current in the field; and maintaining a professional development plan. Assist with mentoring other full-time and adjunct faculty.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain equipment and supplies for the classroom and labs as necessary to support the assigned program area and future industry trends. Work with the supervisor to identify alternative funding sources as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ol> <p>The general expectation is that full-time faculty serve as provisional faculty for a period of three years prior to being reviewed for continuing status. The determination of faculty status is, however, ultimately at the discretion of the Yavapai College District Governing Board and the College President as the Board's designee.</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited institution.</p> </li><li> <p>Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Arizona (Arizona State Board of Nursing): AZBN Instructor Guidelines PDF</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Arizona Driver's License.</p> </li><li> <p>Two (2) years of full-time work experience related to the program(s) being taught, including a minimum of one (1) year of related full-time work experience within the past five (5) years. In lieu of one (1) year of recent full-time experience:</p> </li></ol> <p>Two (2) years of postsecondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the past five (5) years may be considered.</p> <p>o "Two years of postsecondary teaching" means:</p> <p>§ Eight (8) semesters of part-time teaching or</p> <p>§ Four (4) semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution.</p> <p>o Appropriate occupational experience includes:</p> <p>§ Developing a nursing plan of care for patients including goals and priorities derived from nursing diagnoses.</p> <p>§ Directly administering nursing care or supervising RNs, LPNs, Nursing Assistants, and unlicensed caregivers in giving care.</p> <p>§ Evaluating nursing care.</p> <p>Other credentials may be considered by the Dean of Health Sciences & Public Services in cases of instructional emergencies with approval by the VP of Workforce Development & Health Sciences.</p> <ul> <li>-- </li><li>Master's Degree in Nursing Education preferred </li><li>Must be in good standing with clinical agency placements </li><li>Ability to adapt to student needs, including flexibility in scheduling, workload, and communication styles </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Ability to convey ideas and concepts professionally and clearly </li><li>Ability to adjust to communication and learning style variances among students </li><li>Willingness and ability to communicate regularly with students and internal/external customers </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations by promoting and maintaining an inclusive work environment and culture of respect and acceptance </li><li>Ability to understand and promote educational philosophy and programs Yavapai College offers </li><li>Willingness to grow and evolve with the College's educational philosophy </li><li>Experience working and participating in a team environment, collaborating with individuals and teams to meet student needs </li><li>Desire to help students and team members grow and learn </li><li>Experience with MS Office Suite, the internet, and email </li><li>Willingness to learn new technologies </li><li>Experience with online learning platforms and student management systems preferred </li><li>Willingness to continuously learn and accept constructive feedback </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills </li><li>Ability to manage time and schedule effectively </li><li>Previous community involvement and a desire to give back to the profession and community </li><li>Community college teaching experience </li><li>Experience using multimedia technology to enhance student learning </li><li>Experience with online and/or blended/hybrid instruction </li><li>Experience working with culturally diverse populations </li><li>Ability to teach other courses as needed </li></ul> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
