<ul> <li> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for a variety of duties supporting the medical practice such as providing registration/clerical support for Laboratory services, specimen procurement, and CLIA waived testing. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services.</p> </li><li> <p>Overall performance of below indicated essential job duties:</p> </li><li> <p>DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> </li><li> <p>Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and confidentiality policies, documents screenings, interventions, patient/family responses</p> </li><li> <p>Clerical responsibilities; ie: patient registrations, check in/out, obtaining lab reports, verifies insurance coverage and patient demographics, stocking exam rooms, sorting supplies.</p> </li><li> <p>Files all necessary paperwork and charts</p> </li><li> <p>Answers the phone in a timely and courteous manner</p> </li><li> <p>Collects, processes, and labels blood and body fluids for testing and facilitates delivery to the laboratory while meeting all applicable laboratory standards</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in calling ordering facilities for samples needing recollected</p> </li><li> <p>Performs CLIA waived testing and documents test results in medical record</p> </li><li> <p>Obtains and processes laboratory specimens from nursing facilities where directed, and reconcile end of the month contracted lab billing for the nursing homes</p> </li><li> <p>All other duties as assigned</p> </li><li> <p>EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum requirement:</p> </li><li> <p>High School Diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains active National Phlebotomy certification through accredited program</p> </li><li> <p>OR</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains active Medical Assistant Certification and one (1) year recent documented experience working in a medical facility as a medical assistant and/or documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office in a similar role</p> </li><li> <p>Preferred qualifications:</p> </li><li> <p>1 to 5 years documented experience within healthcare organization or medical office.</p> </li><li> <p>WORKING ENVIRONMENT</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly works near moving mechanical parts</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly exposed to blood and/or body fluids and infection.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally exposed to risk of radiation</p> </li><li> <p>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.</p> </li><li> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to walk and move about.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care team requiring talking and hearing.</p> </li><li> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.</p> </li></ul>
