<p>Job Title: Relay Engineer</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a highly skilled Relay Engineer responsible for performing complex and high-level electrical engineering tasks. The role involves developing relay settings for zones of protection within a substation, performing peer reviews, and providing mentorship to less experienced engineers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant standards, codes, and regulations.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Review relay protection and control activities for 4kV thru 765KV electrical substation projects. </li><li>Review P&C scopes for electric substation projects. </li><li>Prepare and/or review P&C engineering and designs for electrical substation projects. </li><li>Participate in project scheduling, resource planning, and cost control for assigned projects. </li><li>Provide engineering support for project installation, commissioning, checkout, and troubleshooting. </li><li>Review and approve P&C related work of other team members. </li><li>Model transmission system impedances and perform short circuit fault studies. </li><li>Perform area protection studies and recommend settings for existing and new transmission line and station protection schemes. </li><li>Review, evaluate, and provide P&C comments and recommendations on transmission system planning proposals. </li><li>Coordinate with transmission customers and interconnected companies on associated protection issues. </li><li>Perform activities related to NERC P&C standards. </li><li>Identify, clarify, resolve, and initiate solutions to protection and control problems through analysis of interruption reports and fault recorder records. </li><li>Contribute to the development of system-wide protection standards for transmission and distribution station protection, metering, and control applications. </li><li>Provide general P&C technical support, including the technical interfaces with Telecom, Operations, Transmission Region Operations, Station Engineering, Transmission Planning, and Project Management. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electrical Computer, or Electrical Engineering Technology. </li><li>1-5 years of Electrical Engineering experience, preferably in Protection & Controls or Facilities/Industrial. </li><li>Experience with relay settings, protection & relays. </li><li>Proficiency in using CAPE or ASPEN software. </li><li>Experience performing fault studies and coordination studies. </li><li>Knowledge of power systems and relays. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Electrical Engineering and Protection & Controls. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The position is primarily office-based, with 97% of the time spent in the office and 3% in the field working on actual relays. The working hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. You will interact with relay engineers, testing groups, telecom groups, and dispatch/control room engineers to troubleshoot problems. Initially, the position will be as a contractor for the first year.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $62.50/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job</p> <p>classification and length of employment.
