<p>Position Information</p> <p>Position Number 004987 Position Title HVAC Mechanic I - 004987 Division Finance and Administration Department 173740 - Central Utilities Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent, two years of HVAC experience, and possession of a valid driver's license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama. Completion of an HVAC training program may substitute for the required experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications Job Description Summary</p> <p>The University of South Alabama's Central Utilities department is seeking to hire an HVAC Mechanic I. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>These are the job duties required of the position.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Maintains operation of HVAC equipment consisting of water chillers, high temperature water boilers, air handling units, pumps, motors valves, pneumatic and electronic controls and other related equipment. </li><li>Monitors building spaces and controls temperature, humidity, and building pressure using an energy management computer system. </li><li>Receives service calls through the phone system, computer work order system and verbally by supervisor. </li><li>Determines corrective action needed and makes adjustments on the computer. </li><li>Works closely with the University police responding to emergencies on campus. </li><li>Responds to service calls and contacts appropriate personnel for needed repais. </li><li>Assists in repairing HVAC equipment and the hold/cold water distribution systems under ground and above ground. </li><li>Monitors color screen gauage controls. </li><li>Helps with preventative maintenance program in the department. </li><li>Moves items weighing up to 50 lbs. </li><li>Climbs ladders and works in hot and cold locations. </li><li>Drives University vehicles to and from work sites. </li><li>Relieves shift operators when they are off work, nights and weekends. </li><li>Regular and prompt attendance. </li><li>Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required. </li><li>Related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Posting Information</p> <p>Number of Vacancies 1 Position End Date (if temporary) Job Open Date 05/03/2025 Job Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Special Instructions to Applicants Working Days Varies Working Hours Varies Job Location Main Campus Full-time or Part-Time Full Time Regular or Temporary Regular</p>
