This role involves coaching children in various sports, enhancing their skills, promoting teamwork, and fostering a love for physical activity in a supportive and inclusive environment.</p> <p>PART II: MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES</p> <p>A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <p>B. CREDENTIALS:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college </li><li>Valid Illinois Driver's License; </li><li>Successful completion of a Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance; </li><li>Successful completion of Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shots Series Training; </li><li>May be required to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification. </li></ul> <p>C. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of coaching techniques and human behavior; </li><li>Knowledge of the District's Goals of an Athletic Program and the Code of Ethics for Coaches; </li><li>Knowledge of the specific sport; </li><li>Knowledge of the State, Federal and School Board Policies and Regulations regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action; </li><li>Basic skills in equipment repair and maintenance as applicable; </li><li>Effective, active listening skills; </li><li>Organizational and problem-solving skills; </li><li>Skills in public speaking; </li><li>Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; </li><li>Ability to recognize and treat minor athletic injuries; </li><li>Ability to work effectively with others; </li><li>Availability to work during assigned hours; </li><li>Coaching ability; </li><li>Leadership ability; </li><li>Physical ability to perform essential functions; </li><li>Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. </li></ul> <p>PART III: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Promotes and actively recruits student participation in the sport/activity, ensuring inclusive access and program growth. </li><li>Communicates and advances the goals, expectations, and values of the program to students, families, and the school community. </li><li>Plans, organizes, and delivers structured practices that emphasize skill development, fundamentals, and appropriate progression. </li><li>Ensures the safety and well-being of all participants through proper supervision, adherence to safety protocols, and injury prevention practices. </li><li>Provides instruction in conditioning, training techniques, and healthy practices, including appropriate use of equipment and nutrition awareness. </li><li>Maintains appropriate student conduct and reinforces expectations for sportsmanship, leadership, respect, and academic responsibility. </li><li>Serves as a positive role model, fostering a culture of respect, teamwork, and personal accountability. </li><li>Attends and supervises all scheduled practices, contests, meetings, and program-related events (including home events and jamborees, as applicable). </li><li>Collaborates with administration and staff to coordinate schedules, transportation, and program logistics. </li><li>Assists in the development and implementation of program guidelines, rules, and operational procedures. </li><li>Maintains accurate records, including attendance, rosters, and required documentation for student participation. </li><li>Verifies eligibility requirements, including completion of physicals and required forms prior to participation. </li><li>Oversees the proper use, care, inventory, and maintenance of equipment, uniforms, and facilities. </li><li>Ensures facilities and equipment are safe, appropriate, and prepared for practices and events. </li><li>Communicates effectively and professionally with students, families, staff, and community members. </li><li>Supports continuous improvement of the program through reflection, collaboration, and responsiveness to feedback. </li><li>Upholds confidentiality and exercises sound judgment in handling student and program information. </li><li>Participates in required meetings, trainings, and professional expectations associated with the role. </li><li>Supports school and district initiatives, including intramural or extracurricular programming as assigned. </li><li>Performs related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>PART IV: STAFF SUPERVISION</p> <ul> <li>Not applicable </li></ul> <p>THE ABOVE STATEMENTS ARE INTENDED TO DESCRIBE THE GENERAL NATURE AND LEVEL OF WORK BEING PERFORMED BY THE EMPLOYEE ASSIGNED TO THIS POSITION.
