<p>The Torrance Unified School District consists of 17 elementary, 8 middle, 4 high schools, 1 continuation, and 1 alternative high school. The District also has 3 adult school campuses. Torrance Unified was established in 1947 and unified in 1948, and is nestled in the heart of the South Bay, in the southwestern part of Los Angeles County. Our District is bordered by the Palos Verdes Peninsula on the south, the beach cities - Redondo, Hermosa, and Manhattan Beach - to the west, and the cities of Lawndale and Hawthorne to the north. The District serves the entire City of Torrance and is governed by five school board members from five trustee areas. SELECTION PROCEDURE: This is an OPEN recruitment to establish an eligibility list and fill a vacancy. An eligibility list will be created from this recruitment and will be used to fill permanent vacancies which may occur during the life of the eligibility list. The current vacancy is full-time, 12 months/year. The current vacancy requires a special language requirement. The Personnel Commission shall certify the names of the first three (3) ranks of eligibles who meet the special requirements (PC Rule 6.2.12). As covered by the CSEA Chapter 19 Collective Bargaining Agreement, employees required to use bilingual skills will receive a stipend of $75.00 per month. The recruitment process will consist of a written examination, bilingual competency examination and an oral technical interview, which are tentatively scheduled during the weeks of January 5-16, 2026.
