<p>The City of Ankeny is currently seeking individuals to fill our 2025-2026 fall and winter recreation positions with the Parks and Recreation Department. The recreation staff performs various part-time duties including gym supervision, youth and adult officiating, and program instruction/assistance.</p> <p>Employees will provide support to individuals and groups utilizing the Ankeny School District facilities, promote good sportsmanship and safety during sporting events, and display leadership and assistance during programs.</p> <p>All interested applicants should submit an online application to the Parks and Recreation Department as soon as possible. Please contact the Parks and Recreation Office with any questions at 515-963-3570.</p> <p>Gym Supervision:  $11.25 per hour.</p> <ul> <li> Supervise groups and individuals renting school gymnasiums </li><li> Ensure that scheduling time limits are adhered to for each group using facilities </li><li> Monitor all equipment and adjust basketball/volleyball/pickleball nets accordingly </li><li> Secure all equipment and facilities at the end of the evening </li></ul> <p>Youth and Adult Officials (soccer/basketball/volleyball) $11.75/$13.75/$16.75 per hour depending on certification</p> <ul> <li> Officiate youth and adult games accurately and fairly based on good knowledge of the sport and rules </li><li> Promote good sportsmanship at all times </li><li> Ensure a safe environment for all participants during games </li></ul> <p>Program Instructor/Assistant (dance/art/music)  $11.25/$12.25/$14.75 per hour depending on certification</p> <ul> <li> Instruct and/or assist with programs as assigned </li><li> Monitor attendance and ensure a safe environment for participants </li><li> Promote recreation programs and facilitate participant growth and learning• Must be at least 16 years of age. </li></ul> <p>Sports knowledge and experience preferred, but not required.  Will train officials.</p> <ul> <li>Must be available on weeknights and weekends. </li><li>Able to work nights/weekends as assigned </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li> Must be sighted </li><li> Must be able to hear a normal conversation </li><li> Must be able to speak at a normal rate of conversation </li><li> Must be able to run and be active during games </li><li> Dependable and reliable </li><li> Clean and neat appearance </li><li>Tactful and effective communication skillsWORKING CONDITIONS: </li><li>Indoor/outdoor settings will vary with task </li><li>Must be adaptive to all weather conditions </li></ul> <p> </p>
