This role provides direct supervision and guidance to a team of six Inspectors while also carrying a full workload of field inspection responsibilities, balancing leadership, collaboration, and day-to-day operational excellence.</p> <p>What You'll Do</p> <ul> <li>Lead, support, and supervise a team of six Inspectors performing inspections of one- and two-family dwellings. </li><li>Conduct hands-on field inspections of residential properties, including driving a City vehicle as part of daily duties. </li><li>Provide effective leadership by conducting performance evaluations and making informed recommendations regarding hiring, promotions, transfers, and corrective actions. </li><li>Collaborate with the Building Official, Deputy Building Official, and internal stakeholders to improve code enforcement processes and service delivery. </li><li>Participate in section planning and develop budgetary recommendations in coordination with department and City leadership. </li><li>Represent the Growth Management Department at trade and neighborhood organization meetings to support education, outreach, and community engagement. </li></ul> <p>For the complete job specification, listing essential duties and desirable qualifications, go to Supervisor-Inspection Services</p> <p>Minimum Training & Experience</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or GED </li><li>Ten (10) years of experience in work involving residential, industrial or commercial inspection, construction supervision, or design </li><li>Three (3) years of supervisory experience in residential, industrial or commercial inspection, construction supervision, or design </li></ul> <p>Necessary Special Requirements</p> <p>Must meet one of the following at the time of appointment:</p> <ul> <li>Contractor registered with the State of Florida, meeting competency requirements </li><li>Contractor certified by the State of Florida </li><li>Architect or Engineer registered with the State of Florida </li><li>Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector license issued by the State of Florida </li><li>Eligible for a Provisional Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector license issued by the State of Florida </li></ul> <p>Individuals without a Standard Inspector license must obtain within one year of appointment:</p> <ul> <li>Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Inspector license </li><li>Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Plans Examiner license </li><li>Standard One- and Two-Family Inspector and Building Code Administrator license </li></ul> <p>All other employees must obtain within one year of appointment:</p> <ul> <li>Standard Building, Residential Electrical, Plumbing, or Mechanical Plans Examiner license </li><li>Standard One- and Two-Family Inspector and Building Code Administrator license </li></ul> <p>Must possess a valid Class E State driver's license</p> <p>Salary Range</p> <p>$25.1538 to $68.2567/hourly.
