<p>Eastern Florida State College is currently seeking applications for the full-time position of Collegewide Chair, Social and Behavioral Sciences on the Palm Bay Campus in Palm Bay, Florida.</p> <p>Salary & Benefit</p> <p>The annual salary is $90,000. Successful internal candidates for external job postings should be aware that their current salary does not transfer to the new position. Salary will be as advertised in the job announcement. Full-time employees of Eastern Florida State College receive fringe benefits including health insurance and a retirement plan.</p> <p>Position Concept</p> <p>As administrative and academic officer of Social and Behavioral Sciences, the Chair has responsibility for the delivery of academic programs in accordance with division and college strategic plans; hiring and evaluation of department personnel to include faculty and staff; budgeting and resource management. As a member of the College administration, the Chair coordinates departmental activity with the activities of other units in the College and, in collaboration with other members of the administration, assists in the development and implementation of College initiatives. This position will report to the Dean of Arts & Sciences.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>The following minimum qualifications for this position must be met before any applicant will be considered:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the related disciplines. </li><li>At least 3 years of experience working with the higher education student population. </li><li>Supervisory experience. </li><li>Analyze data and information. </li><li>Reason logically. </li><li>Develop, evaluate, and present alternative solutions effectively, both orally and in writing. </li><li>Maintain effective interpersonal relations in dealing with students, department staff, other departments, and management. </li><li>Adaptability to changes in discipline and/or program oversight, including faculty supervision. </li><li>Exercise critical and independent judgment. </li><li>Ability to provide leadership, work as a team member, and be effective in relationships with students, faculty, and staff. </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse student populations. </li><li>Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook - Working knowledge of Banner and/or other EFSC student related software preferred. </li><li>Valid Florida Motor Vehicle Operator's license required. </li><li>A review of Social Media activity will be part of the candidate evaluation process. </li><li>This position will require successful fingerprinting and the candidate chosen will be required to pay the associated fee (currently $36.00). This fingerprinting fee ($36.00) is non-refundable. </li><li>Understanding of and commitment to Equal Access/Equal Opportunity. </li><li>Official transcripts of all collegiate work will be required to be considered beyond the application phase. * </li><li>High School Diploma or GED or transcripts or official transcripts of all collegiate work (as appropriate for the position) must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Human Resources Office prior to the first day of employment. All foreign degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. </li></ul> <p>Minimum physical qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. </li><li>Ability to lift, push, pull, or move up to 20 pounds. </li><li>Ability to access, input, and retrieve information and/or data from computer. </li><li>Ability to sit for long periods of time. </li><li>Ability to travel between campuses and off-site locations. </li></ul> <p>Notes</p> <p>Applications will be accepted from December 3, 2025, through December 14, 2025; however, the College reserves the right to extend or conclude searches without notice.
