<p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Community Liaison will ideally be bilingual (English/Spanish) and focused on building strong relationships with community members and leaders to enhance access to the Division of Urogynecology. This role will support efforts to improve the diversity of patient recruitment by collaborating with community providers and actively participating as a member of the PCORI community engagement team, which includes both national and local leaders across five locations. The liaison will also help organize and facilitate community engagement studios, identify and recommend solutions to barriers that may impact study participationsuch as transportation, childcare or elder care, time constraints, and medical literacyand work closely with the team to develop and distribute educational and study materials within local communities to increase awareness, recruitment, and engagement.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>Develops community relationships</p> <ul> <li>Works closely with established community groups in the area, staying up to date on events that will serve to promote dissemination of research trial patient information. </li><li>Travels as needed to establish a physical presence throughout the community. </li><li>Serves as a resource to clinical trial investigators and research staff regarding community activities. </li><li>Collaborates with team members to facilitate recruitment for the research trial and establishes procedures to accomplish and monitor award goals. </li><li>Implements new procedures, providing instruction, when necessary, to increase diversity in the research trial. </li><li>Serves as key contact regarding diversity initiatives, answering inquiries, making referrals, and following up. </li></ul> <p>Address barriers to study participation</p> <ul> <li>Identifies transportation and child/eldercare needs working with research staff to cover patient costs in these areas as needed. </li><li>Identifies and arranges services to fill patient needs in these areas. </li><li>Maintains accurate financial record keeping. </li><li>Reports monthly to Project Coordinator on expenses incurred. </li></ul> <p>Develops and maintains network of contacts to effectively coordinate programs.</p> <p>Participates in promoting study through marketing efforts and website maintenance.</p> <ul> <li>Collaborates with research team, community engagement study team, and Women & Infants Marketing to develop and implement marketing initiatives to ensure visibility of the study in racially diverse populations. </li><li>Works with Project Coordinator and community engagement study team to maintain and update the BEST website to ensure site is effective and accurate to racially diverse populations. </li><li>Address barriers of medical literacy in diverse patient populations. </li></ul> <p>Attends meetings pertaining to program activities and follows up on action items.</p> <ul> <li>Regular communication both in person and through detailed reports with PI, Project Coordinator, community engagement study team and the research team. </li></ul> <p>Preserves and protects confidentiality of Hospital information.</p> <ul> <li>Discusses confidential information concerning program and its participants only when related to job responsibilities. </li><li>Treats records, files, and other confidential documents with the utmost security. </li></ul> <p>Works with Project Coordinator to ensure patient educational materials are in compliance with the WIH IRB.</p> <ul> <li>Works with study team and Project Coordinator to create/promote racially diverse educational materials. </li><li>Works through Project Coordinator IRB submissions for diverse educational materials. </li></ul> <p>Performs other job-related duties as required.</p> <ul> <li>Maintains and enhances technical skills, demonstrating willingness to learn new software programs and applications. </li><li>Participates in educational programs and keeps abreast of current trends in related fields </li><li>Maintains current knowledge of hospital policies, procedures and goals which may impact department programs. </li><li>Helps with other award-related activities as needed. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Associate's Degree Required; Bachelor's Degree Preferred. Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience.</p> <p>The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish and possesses a bachelors degree and/or at least two years of experience in diverse community outreach and academic research. They demonstrate strong community facilitation skills and have a clear understanding of the social context impacting underrepresented and marginalized groups in Rhode Island.
