<p>Introduction</p> <p>The coordinator is central to the fulfillment of the Honors Program mission, with primary responsibilities including:</p> <p>Representation & Communication</p> <p>The coordinator will actively:</p> <ul> <li>participate in strategic planning retreats and in weekly staff meetings; </li><li>represent the program by serving on various campus committees and task-forces; </li><li>interact with a variety of constituents to develop and support program initiatives; </li><li>communicate regularly with students and faculty to plan and organize events, to create and monitor initiatives, and to develop collaborative relationships between Honors and other campus offices, especially those in USASIE; </li><li>interact with faculty and students to facilitate effective support in teaching and learning; </li><li>work closely with the director to author annual reports and to maintain accurate records and tracking indexes across multiple academic years. </li></ul> <p>Advising</p> <p>The coordinator will:</p> <ul> <li>advises over 600 students across 3 Honors pathways, including Foundation, University, and Departmental, from the point of first-contact through to degree completion; </li><li>works with the marketing person to design and disseminate program information to students, other campus advisors, program administrators, and faculty about a range of services and opportunities. </li><li>prioritizes access and implements effective practices for student retention; </li><li>communicates clearly and regularly with students; </li><li>facilitates high-impact, enriching experiences from travel to research to funding; </li><li>develops relationships with a host of campus personnel and services to establish and maintain strong partnerships. </li></ul> <p>Toward the fulfillment of advising duties (bullet point 1 in this section), the coordinator will:</p> <ul> <li>monitor and follow-up with students regarding Starfish progress checks and flags; </li><li>advocate on behalf of students for funding and academic opportunities; </li><li>maintain program standards by continually reviewing student progress against requirements; </li><li>maintain accurate, current, and confidential records; </li><li>participate in a culture of innovation by researching and proposing programmatic initiatives that continually improve student experience; </li><li>implement practices that improve access, engagement, and retention; </li><li>intervene and refer students when they are in situations of crisis, including cases of domestic abuse, sexual assault or harassment, mental health crisis, housing and food insecurity, and emergency financial need; </li><li>facilitate the Outstanding Faculty and Students in Honors awards each semester; </li><li>and communicate with the Honors Program senator. </li></ul> <p>First-Year Programming</p> <p>First Year programming is a central area o f focus in Honors. The coordinator will:</p> <ul> <li>advise all students in the program, from freshmen to seniors, but will focus particular energy on first-year Honors students; </li><li>work closely with this cohort of students to communicate the vision of Honors, disseminate information about pathway options, and enroll students in the program portfolio. </li><li>plan future advising sessions with students, especially around critical junctures in their undergraduate experience; </li><li>administer an entrance survey at the point of enrollment and an exit survey at graduation; maintain records of these instruments to review feedback; </li><li>prioritize retention of these students and dialogue routinely in staff meetings about the status of these efforts; </li><li>inform marketing and communication efforts; </li><li>advance a culture in the program that values and prioritizes data in decision-making. </li></ul> <p>Recruitment & Retention</p> <p>The coordinator will:</p> <ul> <li>plan, organize, and enact an effective vision for Honors recruitment and retention; </li><li>develop a master calendar of events and focus points across the academic year; </li><li>integrate retention and advising efforts for a comprehensive, holistic approach to student success; </li><li>demonstrate knowledge of current, emerging trends in recruitment and retention efforts in higher-education and in Honors specific programming; </li><li>maintain current knowledge regarding research and best practices in Honors education and in general education; </li><li>align Honors structures with key campus outcomes related to the diminishment of barriers and achievement gaps; </li><li>oversee an expanding recruitment effort by Honors in area high schools that feed into WSU. </li></ul> <p>Marketing & Media</p> <p>The coordinator will:</p> <ul> <li>assist in the production of high-quality marketing and media materials for recruitment and retention of students; </li><li>provide guidance on best approaches for student engagement with email and media campaigns. </li></ul> <p>Supervision & Management</p> <p>The coordinator is the immediate reference point for Honors when the director is unavailable. The coordinator will supervise and delegate tasks to part-time staff and/or student workers. The coordinator will keep the director informed as to day-to-day operations.</p> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree </li><li>Two years of full-time related experience, that may include experience in campus advising, university systems, education administration, and/or marketing, media, and design. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or equivalent or actively pursuing; </li><li>Exceptional time-management and organization skills; </li><li>Student-centric; high-energy; innovative; creative and analytical; </li><li>Experience in dealing with a variety of personality types in a variety of situations; </li><li>Proactive, with a strong sense of initiative and the ability to work independently; </li><li>Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; </li><li>Proven leadership abilities; </li><li>Proficient with computer software programs such as Microsoft Windows Operating Systems, Macintosh Operating Systems, Microsoft Office products, the Google suite, and the Adobe suite. Some preferred software proficiencies include Canvas, Qualtrics, and website management. </li></ul> <p>A successful candidate will be willing to Background Check?
