Maimonides is an affiliate of Northwell Health and a major clinical training site for SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>Under the Direction of the AVP of Nursing, the Assistant Director of Nursing directs the clinical and</p> <p>administrative functions of assigned nursing units to ensure high quality, effective patient care and</p> <p>effective use of labor and non-labor resources. Works with the senior nursing management leadership</p> <p>team to evaluate nursing services and patient care; assists with planning, developing, and implementing</p> <p>policies, procedures and standards for patient services and monitors reporting units for compliance.</p> <p>Participates in the selection and development of effective leadership teams of clinical managers and</p> <p>professional staff.</p> <p>DIRECTOR OF NURSING (NON-UNION)</p> <p>PSYCHCHIATRY</p> <p>5 DAYS WEEK / On-site</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>1.* Works with the senior nursing management leadership team in establishing unit goals and</p> <p>objectives and periodically evaluates progress towards goals, consistent with Maimonides</p> <p>Health's goals.</p> <p>2.* Assists with planning, developing, and implementing policies, procedures and standards for</p> <p>patient services and monitors reporting units for compliance.</p> <p>3.* Participates in designing protocols and documentation tools for assign Nursing area(s);</p> <p>defining nursing responsibilities and roles in new procedures. Works with the senior nursing</p> <p>management leadership team and members of the healthcare team to develop, monitor,</p> <p>implement and evaluate nursing standards.</p> <p>4.* Evaluates training and educational needs of staff, in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse</p> <p>Specialist (CNS) orientation programs and in-services for nurses and other Emergency</p> <p>Medicine Staff. Documents develops and implements nursing conferences and meetings as</p> <p>appropriate.</p> <p>5.* Provides and communicates information to members of the healthcare team on a variety of</p> <p>clinical and administrative matters (e.g., new products, equipment and techniques); assesses</p> <p>and evaluates the process of new programs, and makes recommendations to management on</p> <p>implementation and/or acquisition of new products/techniques; conducts in-services as</p> <p>required.</p> <ol start="6"> <li>Assists the senior nursing management leadership team in identifying CQI projects. Works </li></ol> <p>with leadership in developing, implementing and monitoring quality assurance projects as well</p> <p>as analyzing data.</p> <p>7.* Participates in the selection, hiring, and supervision of clinical leadership and professional</p> <p>staff: initiates disciplinary action, carries out annual performance appraisal of employees,</p> <p>recommending promotions, raises, training, etc.</p> <ol start="8"> <li>Assists the Director of Nursing in preparing and developing the annual capital budget for the </li></ol> <p>department by selecting and recommending the purchase of equipment and other items</p> <p>necessary to move the department forward in technology and improve departmental efficiency.</p> <ol start="9"> <li>Assists in preparation of the departmental operating and personnel budgets; manages the </li></ol> <p>budget throughout the year, analyzes and monitors monthly reports and overtime runs for the</p> <p>department to ensure that the department operates within budget guidelines.</p> <p>10.* Reviews standards and related policies and procedures for compliance with requirements of</p> <p>regulatory agencies: recommends and implements changes as required and ensures changes</p> <p>are communicated to Patient Services staff, monitors and reviews departmental and unit</p> <p>compliance with reporting requirements.</p> <p>11.* Responds to problems that arise on a daily basis; resolves where possible, referring problems</p> <p>or responses to the appropriate individual as required; reviews and investigates all complaints</p> <p>received by the department with department members to ensure speedy resolution and reply.</p> <ol start="12"> <li>Works with the Director of Nursing in directing the maintenance of departmental facilities, </li></ol> <p>equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health comfort and</p> <p>safety of patients and staff.</p> <p>13.* Maintains established department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance</p> <p>program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.</p> <ul> <li>Indicates an essential job function. </li></ul> <p>_<strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong><strong>__</strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></strong></p> <p>OTHER JOB DUTIES</p> <p>Serves as a resource person to department staff on matters relating to policies and procedures.</p> <p>May assume Director of Nursing responsibilities in their absence.</p> <p>Performs other related duties as required.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 3 yrs. Behavioral Health experience. </li><li>5 years leadership experience (Asst.
