This leadership role oversees the accounting team based in Mobile and has full authority over accounting operations enterprise-wide. The Controller serves as the organization's highest authority on accounting procedures and internal controls.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Organizational Leadership & Financial Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Maintain the integrity of all accounting systems and financial records throughout the organization. </li><li>Act as the primary liaison with external auditors across all Hackbarth locations. </li><li>Conduct routine internal audits to ensure policy adherence and the effectiveness of internal controls. </li><li>Oversee General Accounting, Accounts Payable/Receivable, Fixed Assets, and Claims Adjudication functions. </li><li>Establish and manage secure systems for tracking and maintaining the organization's fixed assets. </li><li>Provide backup support for billing, payroll, and month-end close processes. </li><li>Ensure comprehensive backup coverage for all accounting functions across the company. </li><li>Develop accounting procedures for new projects and business units. </li><li>Manage the preparation of 1099 tax filings, property tax returns, and year-end financial close activities. </li><li>Perform other duties assigned to support Hackbarth's financial and strategic objectives. </li></ul> <p>Supervision & Team Development</p> <ul> <li>Directly supervise the Accounting Manager, Payables Analyst, Receivables Analyst, Payroll Specialist, and other accounting staff as needed. </li><li>Apply strengths-based leadership to develop and support team members professionally and personally. </li><li>Set clear expectations, provide consistent feedback, and conduct timely performance reviews through Catalytic Coaching. </li><li>Model and reinforce adherence to Hackbarth's core values across the team. </li></ul> <p>Training & Organizational Learning</p> <ul> <li>Participate actively in training and development opportunities, both internally and externally. </li><li>Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge-sharing within the team. </li><li>Demonstrate a clear understanding of Hackbarth's service lines and operations. </li></ul> <p>Community Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Represent Hackbarth with professionalism and integrity in all community and partner interactions. </li></ul> <p>Technology & Systems Expertise</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrate expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and common office equipment. </li><li>Maintain advanced working knowledge of accounting and transportation management software; experience with Xcelerator is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Benefits and Compensation</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary commensurate with experience. </li><li>$ 90,000.00 - $142,000.00 Annually </li><li>Quarterly Bonuses (Performance Based) </li><li>Health, dental, and vision insurance. </li><li>Supplemental insurance options </li><li>Retirement plan options. </li><li>Paid time off and holidays. </li><li>Opportunities for career advancement. </li><li>A dynamic and inclusive work environment. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Accounting (required). </li><li>Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation (required). </li><li>Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting leadership roles. </li><li>Deep understanding of accounting principles and business operations. </li><li>Prior experience with transportation management systems, ideally Xcelerator or equivalent. </li><li>Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail. </li><li>Reliable transportation and valid driver's license required for occasional travel. </li><li>Must pass background check, MVR, and drug screening. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to: </li><li>Collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders. </li><li>Communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats. </li></ul> <p>An Equal Opportunity Employer</p>
