<p>Mitchell College is conducting a search for an Assistant Director/Coordinator of Student Engagement (AD/CSE) to provide leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Office of Student Engagement. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Life, this position is responsible for cultivating a vibrant, inclusive, and developmentally rich co-curricular experience that advances Mitchell College's commitment to building a Beloved Community and supports the Mitchell College Abilities framework.</p> <p>The AD/CSE leads the design, implementation, and assessment of student engagement opportunities, including student organizations, leadership development, campus programming, and civic engagement initiatives. The role supervises a full-time Fellow within the department, in addition to student leaders, and fosters collaboration across campus to ensure a cohesive and engaging student experience.</p> <p>This position is considered essential personnel and requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of students and support campus programs, events, and operations.</p> <p>Please note this position will be filled at the Coordinator or Assistant Director level, based on the selected candidate's years and type of experience, demonstrated competencies and educational background.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <p>Leadership & Office Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Provide comprehensive oversight of the Office of Student Engagement, ensuring all programs, services, and initiatives are well-coordinated, inclusive, and aligned with institutional priorities. </li><li>Develop and implement programming that fosters a sense of belonging and advances the College's vision of a Beloved Community, where differences are celebrated and all students feel valued and connected. </li><li>Ensure all departmental initiatives support and reinforce the Mitchell College Abilities, integrating skill development into co-curricular experiences. </li><li>Maintain a centralized campus programming calendar and oversee marketing strategies across digital, print, and social media platforms. </li><li>Manage departmental resources, including programming spaces, equipment, and supplies. </li></ul> <p>Student Engagement & Campus Programming</p> <ul> <li>Lead and/or assist with the planning and execution of major campus-wide programs, including New Student Orientation, Fall Weekend, Campus Honors and Awards Ceremony, and Senior Week. </li><li>Oversee the development, coordination, and assessment of student-led events and initiatives, ensuring adherence to institutional policies and risk management practices. </li><li>Coordinate contracts and logistics with campus partners and external vendors. </li><li>Support and facilitate evening and weekend programming to enhance campus life. </li><li>Chair the Networking Council and promote collaborative, cross-departmental programming efforts. </li></ul> <p>Student Organizations & Leadership Development</p> <ul> <li>Advise and support the Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Student Government Association (SGA); oversee groups' programming, leadership development, and budget management. </li><li>Oversee all student clubs and organizations, ensuring compliance with policies, effective event planning, and accurate tracking of programs and events. </li><li>Guide the development and implementation of student leadership training programs. </li><li>Support students in establishing new organizations and foster a collaborative and inclusive student organization environment. </li></ul> <p>Planning, Assessment & Technology</p> <ul> <li>Lead the training and implementation of student engagement software (UniHub by Symplicity), including establishing processes and best practices for its use, and utilize the platform to track participation, assess learning outcomes, and enhance student involvement </li><li>Assist with the development and implementation of a student engagement curriculum that integrates co-curricular learning with the Mitchell College Abilities; utilize UniHub by Symplicity to track engagement and support the creation and ongoing management of a co-curricular transcript. </li><li>Design and execute assessment strategies to evaluate program effectiveness and inform continuous improvement. </li><li>Coordinate student focus groups and generate reports to support divisional and institutional decision-making. </li><li>Contribute to institutional initiatives related to civic engagement, retention, and support for commuter and non-traditional students. </li><li>Ensure Student Affairs web content related to engagement is current and accurate. </li></ul> <p>Supervision & Staff Development</p> <ul> <li>Supervise a full-time Fellow within the Office of Student Engagement through regular one-on-one meetings, goal setting, and consistent communication; provide ongoing feedback and coaching; conduct formal performance evaluations; and support professional growth through mentorship, training, and development opportunities </li><li>Supervise and support student leaders. </li><li>Provide training for students, faculty, and staff on student engagement systems and processes. </li><li>Collaborate with campus partners to support the training and development of student leaders across campus. </li></ul> <p>Community Engagement & Belonging</p> <ul> <li>Oversee the coordination of civic engagement programming and cultivate community partnerships. </li><li>Provide oversight of the Mariner Market (campus pantry), including operations, student access, inventory coordination, and partnerships that support student basic needs and well-being. </li><li>Design and implement programs that promote inclusion, cultural awareness, and community engagement. </li><li>Create intentional opportunities for students to connect across differences and contribute to a campus community grounded in respect and belonging. </li></ul> <p>Institutional Collaboration & Service</p> <ul> <li>Serve on college committees and working groups as assigned, contributing to institutional planning, assessment, and student success initiatives. </li><li>Represent the Office of Student Engagement in cross-functional collaborations and campus-wide initiatives. </li><li>Assist with institutional programming and events (Admissions Open House, Fall & January Move-In, Commencement, etc.). </li><li>Maintain and enhance established campus traditions and signature programs (e.g., Welcome Weeks, Apple Fest, Late Night Breakfast, Spring Fest, Senior Week, etc.) to ensure they remain engaging, relevant, and impactful for the community. </li><li>Collaborate with key campus partners (Facilities, Dining Services, Auxiliary Services, First-Year Experience, Health and Wellness, etc.) to develop, coordinate, and execute student engagement programs and initiatives. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by the Vice Provost of Student Success and Innovation or Assistant Dean for Student Life. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field. </li><li>3-5 years of experience in student engagement, student activities, leadership development, and/or residence life within a college or university setting. </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a diverse campus community. </li><li>Experience in program development, budget management, and event planning. </li><li>Ability to advise, mentor, and supervise students and early-career professionals. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and attention to detail. </li><li>Strong understanding of student development theory and its application in co-curricular settings. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. </li><li>High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality. </li><li>Proficiency with technology, including student engagement platforms and social media tools. </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build meaningful relationships with diverse constituents. </li><li>Commitment to student success, retention, persistence, and inclusive excellence. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with student information and engagement systems (Blackbaud, Advocate, Residence, UniHub). </li><li>Experience working with diverse student populations, including students with learning differences and/or neurodiverse learners. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>This role may require sitting, standing, walking, and use of hands for computer-based tasks.
