<p>Survey Technician / Survey Crew Chief</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>A growing land surveying and engineering firm is seeking an experienced Survey Technician / Survey Crew Chief with 3+ years of professional land surveying experience to support a variety of active projects. This position involves a mix of fieldwork and office coordination, working closely with survey crews, engineers, and project managers on residential, commercial, and construction-related projects.</p> <p>The ideal candidate has strong technical field experience, is comfortable leading or working as part of a survey crew, and is proficient in modern survey equipment and AutoCAD workflows.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Field Survey Operations</p> <ul> <li>Conduct topographical surveys, boundary surveys, construction layout, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, and staking </li><li>Operate survey equipment including total stations, GPS units, and data collectors (Leica, Topcon, or similar) </li><li>Lead or assist survey crews in daily field operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency </li><li>Perform construction layout and verification surveys to support active job sites </li></ul> <p>Office & Technical Support</p> <ul> <li>Download and upload survey data into AutoCAD for drafting and plan production </li><li>Assist with survey calculations, data management, and record keeping </li><li>Research land records, deeds, plats, and right-of-way information </li><li>Review field data for completeness and quality prior to submission </li></ul> <p>Project Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate with engineers, survey managers, and project managers to support project schedules and deliverables </li><li>Communicate field conditions, discrepancies, and progress updates to the project team </li><li>Assist with preparing survey information for design and construction purposes </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>Experience</p> <ul> <li>3+ years of professional land surveying experience </li><li>Hands-on experience conducting: </li><li>Topographical surveys </li><li>Boundary and property surveys </li><li>ALTA/NSPS surveys </li><li>Construction layout and staking </li></ul> <p>Technical Skills</p> <ul> <li>Experience operating Leica, Topcon, or similar total station and GPS survey equipment </li><li>Proficiency with AutoCAD for survey data processing and drafting </li><li>Experience transferring survey data between field equipment and office software </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Ability to work independently and as part of a survey crew </li><li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy </li><li>Comfortable working in outdoor field environments and on active construction sites </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines </li><li>Clear communication skills when working with engineers, project managers, and construction teams </li><li>Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed </li></ul> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newington, CT.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
