<p>Job Title: Distribution Apprentice A</p> <p>Location: Louisiana, USA</p> <p>Position Reports To: Crew Foreman</p> <p>Job Classification: Full Time / Non-Exempt</p> <p>Company: Electra Grid Solutions</p> <p>electragridsolutions.com</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Distribution Apprentice A is responsible for assisting experienced linemen in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead and underground power distribution systems. This is the first step in a multi-level apprenticeship designed to develop knowledge, skills, and safe work practices under the supervision of experienced Journeymen. The role provides hands-on learning and practical training in the utility field.</p> <p>Job Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work safely on construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de-energized power lines</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in setting poles and anchors in accordance with safety and technical specifications</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean, working condition</p> </li><li> <p>Learn to identify and work with distribution voltages and understand induced voltage</p> </li><li> <p>Learn to read blueprints and assist in identifying structural or equipment issues</p> </li><li> <p>Work productively from aerial devices and at heights under supervision</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in assembling and erecting poles of varying heights and configurations</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in framing and setting pole structures, including work on de-energized poles</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in installing various line hardware and compression connections</p> </li><li> <p>Learn and follow correct procedures for PPE use and inspection of rubber goods and cover-up</p> </li><li> <p>Climb wood and steel poles/structures safely with proper tools and technique</p> </li><li> <p>Understand and perform basic knot-tying and use of hand lines</p> </li><li> <p>Learn proper grounding procedures and minimum approach distances</p> </li><li> <p>Understand material types and equipment setup principles used in line work</p> </li><li> <p>Function effectively within a crew and demonstrate willingness to learn from others</p> </li><li> <p>Practice flagging and tagging procedures as instructed</p> </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School Diploma or GED required</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Class A CDL required to be maintained while in position (or ability to obtain within 90 days)</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass drug, alcohol, background, MVR and clearinghouse checks upon hire and continuously while in position</p> </li><li> <p>Must pass a DOT physical examination</p> </li><li> <p>Basic understanding of electrical distribution systems preferred</p> </li><li> <p>First Aid and CPR certification preferred (or ability to obtain)</p> </li><li> <p>Must be safety-conscious and willing to follow all company safety protocols</p> </li><li> <p>Able and willing to travel long distances on short notice</p> </li><li> <p>Able and willing to work extended hours, including overtime and weekends</p> </li><li> <p>Able and willing to work in all types of weather, including inclement conditions</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn</p> </li><li> <p>Effective communication and team collaboration skills</p> </li><li> <p>Professionalism, integrity, and willingness to take initiative</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to bend, climb, kneel, stoop, and stand for extended periods</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to climb poles, ladders, and steel structures using proper equipment</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent repetitive use of hands, wrists, and fingers for handling tools and materials</p> </li><li> <p>Visual acuity required for identifying materials, reading instruments, and performing work with precision</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to wear and operate personal protective equipment (PPE) for long periods</p> </li><li> <p>Capable of working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions</p> </li><li> <p>Able to perform physically demanding labor for extended hours, often under stressful or hazardous conditions</p> </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li> <p>Work performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions</p> </li><li> <p>Exposure to electrical hazards, construction environments, and elevated work platforms</p> </li><li> <p>Travel required to various job sites, including occasional overnight stays</p> </li><li> <p>Extended work hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekend shifts as needed</p> </li></ul> <p>Key Attributes</p> <ul> <li> <p>Self Motivated - Takes initiative and responsibility for for safety quality.</p> </li><li> <p>Team-Oriented - Works cooperatively with others in a crew setting.</p> </li><li> <p>Customer-Focused - Acts with professionalism and respect.</p> </li><li> <p>Safety-Minded - Adheres to safety protocols and uses PPE properly.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Notes</p> <p>This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
