<p>Roxbury Community College (RCC) is a public institution of higher education offering associate degrees, certificate programs and lifelong learning opportunities to the Greater Boston community. Our annual report is available at Clery Report.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative support to HR and payroll departments. Responsibilities include handling administrative tasks, maintaining employee records, and assisting with recruitment and payroll processes. HR Assistants play a key role in keeping the department's daily operations running smoothly.</p> <p>Title: Part-Time Human Resources Assistant</p> <p>Unit: NUP Non-Unit Professional</p> <p>Department: HR</p> <p>Reports To: Director of Human Resources</p> <p>Date: January 2026</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the first point of contact for all employee inquiries directed to the Office of Human Resources and Payroll. </li><li>Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Human Resources and Payroll departments. </li><li>Work under the supervision of the Director of Human Resources, working closely with the Senior HR Generalist. </li><li>Support day-to-day operations of the HR and Payroll teams by assisting with administrative tasks, special projects, employee events, and department initiatives. </li><li>Assist with the recruitment process, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and completing employment verifications. </li><li>Maintain and update employee records, both digital and physical, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance. </li><li>Support onboarding, orientation, and training efforts for new hires by preparing materials, scheduling sessions, and ensuring a smooth transition. </li><li>Collect and process paperwork related to employee relations, leaves of absence, benefits enrollment, and other HR functions. </li><li>Enter and update employee information in internal systems and ensure completion of required employment documentation. </li><li>Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR and payroll matters, providing timely and professional support. </li><li>Uphold the confidentiality of all employee information and sensitive correspondence. </li><li>Assist with performance management procedures and documentation tracking. </li><li>Coordinate department scheduling, including meetings, interviews, HR events, and staff luncheons. </li><li>Perform administrative tasks such as filing, copying, scanning, sorting mail, and maintaining databases. </li><li>Monitor and maintain Human Resources files and systems to ensure data integrity and ease of access. </li><li>Stay informed of current HR trends, best practices, and compliance updates to support continuous improvement. </li><li>Collaborate with team members on departmental projects and support cross-functional initiatives as needed. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the department. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in human resources, Business, Liberal Arts, and/ or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Business, Healthcare, Psychology, Human Resources, or related field. </li><li>Two to three years of HR Assistant experience. </li><li>Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of employee records and information. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and customer service skills </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Excellent administrative and organizational skills. </li><li>Attention to detail. </li><li>Ability to relate to and effectively articulate the mission and values of Roxbury Community College </li><li>Ability to use standard office tools (MS Office) and virtual meeting software packages (Microsoft, Teams, Zoom) </li><li>Reliability and ability to set consistent work hours. </li><li>Enjoys collaborating with a team but can work independently as well. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, Psychology, and/ or another related field </li><li>Bilingual skills a plus </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Compensation: $19.71-27.00/hr based on experience</p> <p>Location: Roxbury Community College, 1234 Columbus Ave, Boston, MA 02120</p> <p>Unit Status: NUP Non-Unit Professional</p> <p>Hours: 18.5 hours per week.</p> <p>Expected Start Date: January 2026</p> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>All applicants must apply online by submitting:</p> <ul> <li>Cover Letter </li><li>Resume </li><li>(3) Professional References </li></ul> <p>Successful applicants will be required to complete a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI/SORI) request.</p> <p>After completing all the steps above, please go back into the newly created account and double check that your resume and cover letter uploaded as you intended.</p> <p>Roxbury Community College understands that persons with specific disabilities may need assistance with the job application process and/or with the interview process.
