<p>Independent Contractor Posting</p> <p>Global Compensation Consultant</p> <p>Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (Hourly / Billable)</p> <p>Engagement Structure: Ongoing, As-Needed Advisory Support</p> <p>Anticipated Duration: Initial 6-12 months, with potential continuation based on organizational needs</p> <p>Location: Remote, with coordination across global time zones</p> <p>Primary Organizational Contact: Chief People Officer</p> <p>Engagement Overview</p> <p>We are a global nonprofit operating across multiple countries seeking a Compensation Consultant (Independent Contractor) to provide ongoing, as-needed advisory support on global compensation programs and practices.</p> <p>This engagement is intended to supplement internal HR capacity by providing specialized compensation expertise on a flexible basis, supporting both planned initiatives and emerging needs. The consultant will deliver discrete analyses, recommendations, and project-based outputs to help strengthen compensation frameworks, ensure internal equity, and align with market practices.</p> <p>This is a non-exclusive, independent contractor engagement, not an employment position. Work will be requested periodically and scoped based on organizational priorities.</p> <p>Scope of Services</p> <p>The consultant will provide advisory and project-based support, which may include:</p> <p>Compensation Program Design & Review</p> <ul> <li>Provide recommendations on salary structures, ranges, and compensation frameworks </li><li>Advise on enhancements to compensation programs based on market trends and internal analysis </li><li>Provide input into salary review approaches and pay decision frameworks </li></ul> <p>Global Compensation Advisory</p> <ul> <li>Provide guidance on compensation practices across multiple countries </li><li>Apply market data (e.g., Birches Group or comparable benchmarks) to inform recommendations </li><li>Identify risks, inconsistencies, or gaps in compensation practices </li></ul> <p>Job Evaluation & Leveling Support</p> <ul> <li>Conduct or advise on job evaluations using established methodologies </li><li>Provide recommendations on job classification and leveling </li><li>Review and suggest updates to job descriptions to support alignment with market data </li></ul> <p>Market Analysis & Benchmarking</p> <ul> <li>Conduct or review compensation benchmarking analyses </li><li>Provide written insights to support pay decisions and workforce planning </li></ul> <p>Compensation Policy & Pay Design</p> <ul> <li>Provide input into the development or refinement of compensation policies and guidelines </li><li>Advise on alternative pay approaches (e.g., daily rates, project-based compensation) </li><li>Support consistency and internal equity across roles and geographies </li></ul> <p>Advisory Support</p> <ul> <li>Serve as a subject matter resource to HR on compensation-related questions as they arise </li><li>Provide guidance on specific pay decisions, leveling, and application of compensation frameworks </li><li>Offer input into communication materials and tools to support understanding of compensation programs </li></ul> <p>Data & Reporting Support</p> <ul> <li>Review compensation data and provide insights to support decision-making </li><li>Develop or refine compensation analyses, reports, or tools as needed </li></ul> <p>Example Deliverables</p> <p>Work will be scoped and requested on an as-needed basis and may include:</p> <ul> <li>Compensation structure and salary range recommendations </li><li>Job evaluation summaries and leveling recommendations </li><li>Market benchmarking analyses and written insights </li><li>Compensation policy or guideline drafts </li><li>Pay analysis memos to support specific decisions or scenarios </li><li>Recommendations for alternative pay models </li><li>Compensation reporting tools or templates </li></ul> <p>Deliverables are expected to be discrete and time-bound, even within an ongoing advisory relationship.</p> <p>Nature of Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Work will be intermittent and demand-driven, rather than continuous or full-time </li><li>Assignments will be scoped individually, with agreed deliverables, timelines, and estimated hours </li><li>The consultant will determine the method, timing, and approach to completing the work </li><li>The consultant may provide services to other clients during the term of this engagement </li></ul> <p>What This Role Is Not</p> <p>To ensure clarity of scope, this engagement does not include:</p> <ul> <li>Ongoing administration of compensation programs or payroll </li><li>Ownership of annual compensation cycles or HR operations </li><li>Day-to-day employee support or internal HR responsibilities </li><li>Supervision of staff or management of internal resources </li></ul> <p>Required Expertise</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated experience in compensation design, analysis, and advisory work </li><li>Experience supporting global or multi-country compensation programs </li><li>Strong understanding of compensation structures, benchmarking, and pay practices </li><li>Ability to interpret data and provide clear, actionable recommendations </li><li>Experience advising HR and leadership stakeholders </li><li>Ability to operate independently and deliver high-quality outputs </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Experience with international salary survey providers (e.g., Birches Group) </li><li>Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations </li><li>Relevant certifications (e.g., CCP, SHRM, or similar) </li></ul> <p>Engagement Terms</p> <ul> <li>This is a contract opportunity for an independent service provider and is not an employment position </li><li>Services will be performed on a billable hourly basis </li><li>The anticipated hourly rate range for this engagement is $125-$175/hour per hour, depending on experience and scope alignment </li><li>Work will be requested on an as-needed basis, with no guaranteed minimum hours </li><li>The engagement is non-exclusive, and the consultant may provide services to other clients </li><li>The consultant is responsible for providing their own tools and work environment </li></ul>
