<p>Position Summary:</p> <p>Staff Nurse (Short-Term Assignment)</p> <p>The RN is responsible for delegating, coordinating, and managing all aspects of nursing care and services provided to the patient and family in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and respectful manner. Patient- and family-centered care is delivered in collaboration with the patient, family, and members of the healthcare team.</p> <p>Short-Term Assignment Summary:</p> <p>This position is part of UT Medical Center's short-term assignment program and supports full-time staffing needs within our expanding Emergency Department. Team members are hired for a defined assignment period, receive premium pay, and function as fully integrated UTMC RNs, though the role is not eligible for benefits. This assignment structure provides an opportunity for experienced nurses who want to contribute immediately to a high-acuity environment. Assignment duration is determined by organizational needs.</p> <p>Essential Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Initiates the development of the plan of care based upon the nursing assessment, the medical diagnosis, and clinical information gathered from the patient, family, and other health care providers.</p> </li><li> <p>Evaluates the patient's actual and/or potential response to the disease process, interventions, and the outcomes of nursing care and multidisciplinary health care services.</p> </li><li> <p>Incorporates evidence-based research in the delivery of professional nursing services.</p> </li><li> <p>Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal relationships and promotes effective teamwork with patients, families, coworkers, and the community to meet customer service goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Considers safety principles and practices to address unit-based issues related to the quality of care and services provided, the appropriate use of technology, and the efficiencies of service delivery. Responds appropriately to emergency situations or unplanned events.</p> </li><li> <p>Promotes the effective and efficient allocation, distribution, and use of unit, service-line, and organizational resources for the delivery of safe, timely, cost-effective, and respectful patient care services.</p> </li></ul> <p>Position Qualification:</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or Associate's degree in Nursing (ASN).</p> </li><li> <p>Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Tennessee (or compact license with TN eligibility).</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 2-3 years of recent Emergency Department nursing experience in a high-acuity or Level I/II ED environment.</p> </li><li> <p>BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS required or obtained within the organization's designated timeframe.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong clinical judgment, rapid assessment skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced ED environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.</p> </li><li> <p>Effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and colleagues.</p> </li><li> <p>EMR experience preferred.</p> </li></ul>
