<p>Job Title: Medical Assistant</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to perform various clinical tasks, including taking medical histories, recording vital signs, and explaining treatment procedures to patients. You will be responsible for collecting and preparing laboratory specimens, performing basic laboratory tests, disposing of contaminated supplies, sterilizing medical instruments, arranging examining room instruments and equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in waiting and examining rooms. Additionally, you will instruct patients about medications and special diets, authorize drug refills as directed, telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, and prepare patients for x-rays. Duties may vary based on state law regulations.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Take medical histories and record vital signs. </li><li>Explain treatment procedures to patients. </li><li>Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and/or swab testing. </li><li>Perform basic laboratory tests on the premises. </li><li>Dispose of contaminated supplies and sterilize medical instruments. </li><li>Arrange examining room instruments and equipment. </li><li>Clean and organize waiting and examining rooms. </li><li>Instruct patients about medications and special diets. </li><li>Authorize drug refills as directed and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy. </li><li>Prepare patients for x-rays. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Medical assisting experience. </li><li>Proficiency with electronic health records. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>Medical Assistant or CNA license or LPN. </li><li>1+ years of experience in medical assisting or hospital environment. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with occasional extensions until 5:30 PM. There are no weekend or holiday shifts. The position involves floating between locations in Hartford, East Hartford, Farmington, and Glastonbury, with schedules provided well in advance.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $24.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job</p> <p>classification and length of employment.
