<p>Job Title Biology Lab Assistant (Federal Work Study) Job Description</p> <p>The lab assistant candidate would be a highly motivated and detail-oriented student who would join our biology team as a Lab Assistant here at SPCC. The ideal candidate would be a science major with interests in laboratory work and wanting to gain experience in the lab. This position is located at the Old Charlotte Highway Campus in Monroe, working under the direction of the Biology instructor.</p> <p>Essential Duties Summary</p> <ul> <li>Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for biology lab classes, including reagents, cultures, and specimens. </li><li>Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring all safety protocols are followed. </li><li>Complete a full inventory of the lab equipment and supplies. </li><li>Monitor and maintain laboratory inventory and submit supply order to instructor. </li><li>Ensure proper handling and disposal of wastes from labs. </li><li>Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment. </li><li>May also assist in some labs if available. </li><li>Cleaning up and organizing after Open Labs and at the end of the week setting up for the next week labs. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Strong organizational and communication skills. </li><li>Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions carefully. </li><li>Interest in laboratory work and biology preferred. </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Prefer completion of or current enrollment in BIO 111, BIO 112, or Microbiology.</p> <p>Physical Demands Special Conditions Eligibility Summary</p> <p>Students must have completed a current year's FAFSA, be eligible for Federal Financial Aid, be enrolled at South Piedmont Community College, be making Satisfactory Academic Progress (GPA of 2.000 or higher, a completion rate of 67% or higher, not exceeding the maximum timeframe of 150%) to apply.</p> <p>Eeo Statement Summary</p> <p>South Piedmont Community College provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees based on job related criteria without reference to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected classification.
