<p>The purpose of this position is to perform communications and administrative work in support of the Communications Department, social media content creation, produce short videos for social media, assist with writing/editing duties and provide customer assistance, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Communications. Work schedule is under 25 hours/week.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prepares and processes purchase orders, check requests and expense receipts for department.</p> </li><li> <p>Enters, tracks and coordinates status of Energov event data input & FOIA data input.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in writing and editing tasks.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports social media content creation.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports graphic design function.</p> </li><li> <p>Functions as backup for director of communications & digital communications manager</p> </li><li> <p>Analyzes social media metrics.</p> </li><li> <p>Tracks and compiles monthly media tracking report.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports photography, and ribbon cutting preparation and attends ribbon cuttings.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with social media tracking and monitoring.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with photography, video editing and production.</p> </li><li> <p>After-hour event staffing required (weekends/nights).</p> </li><li> <p>Operates a variety of standard office equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists the Communication Department as needed and assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <p>High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred, and at least three (3) years of related work experience in an office setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.</p> <p>Licenses or Certifications:</p> <p>Valid South Carolina driver's license.</p> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <p>None.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and office assistance techniques. </li><li>Knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic. </li><li>Knowledge of Town and Department programs and policies. </li><li>Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling and Associated Press (writing) style. </li><li>Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with associates and the general public. </li><li>Skill in delivering customer service. </li><li>Skill in operating standard office and computer equipment including Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. </li><li>Skill in typing data accurately and at a reasonable rate of speed. </li><li>Skill in basic graphic design. </li><li>Ability to read and understand basic, relevant Town and state policies and procedures. </li><li>Ability to perform basic word processing and/or simple data entry. </li><li>Ability to tape, edit and produce videos is a bonus. </li></ul> <p>The work is sedentary work and requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. In addition, positions in this classification typically require grasping, handling, perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, discriminating among sounds, manual dexterity, mental acuity, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, expressing ideas by the spoken word, shouting to be heard above ambient noise, visual acuity to analyze data/work with color or depth perception/operate motor vehicles or equipment, and walking.</p> <p>Duties are performed primarily in a moderately noisy business office with copy machines, phones, and printers along with some light foot traffic.</p>
