<p>Position Title: General Mechanic Foreman</p> <p>Salary Range: Regionally Competitive</p> <p>FLSA Status: Non-Exempt</p> <p>Immediate Supervisor: Director Buildings and Grounds</p> <p>Job Summary: The General Mechanic Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the maintenance team, including scheduling, assigning, and inspecting work performed by skilled and semi-skilled maintenance staff. This role ensures the efficient repair, maintenance, and operation of mechanical systems, structures, and equipment across district facilities. The General Mechanic Foreman provides hands-on expertise, leadership, and guidance to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational efficiency.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Supervise, assign, and review the work of general mechanics and other maintenance personnel. </li><li>Plan and coordinate repair and preventive maintenance tasks on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and other mechanical systems. </li><li>Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, and work performed. </li><li>Evaluate and distribute submitted work orders on a daily basis in coordination with the Director of Buildings and Grounds. </li><li>Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes and safety regulations, including OSHA standards. </li><li>Conduct regular inspections to assess facility conditions and identify repair needs. </li><li>Participate in emergency response efforts including after-hours repairs or weather-related incidents. </li><li>Cover athletic events or building rentals as needed, including weekends. </li><li>Train and mentor maintenance staff on proper procedures, safety practices, and equipment use. </li><li>Support and participate in energy-saving initiatives and district sustainability goals. </li></ul> <p>Equipment: Use a variety of hand tools and power equipment related to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and general mechanical work. Must operate district vehicles and maintenance-related equipment safely.</p> <p>Travel Requirements: Frequent travel between schools and district buildings is required.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in general building maintenance and repair, including two (2) years in a supervisory role. </li><li>Proficient in multiple trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems. </li></ul> <p>Desired Education and Training</p> <ul> <li>Certification or licensure in one or more skilled trades preferred. </li><li>Training in OSHA compliance and facilities safety protocols. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions</p> <ul> <li>Mental Demands: Must be able to manage multiple priorities, make timely decisions, and respond effectively to emergency situations. Requires attention to detail, leadership ability, and clear communication skills. </li><li>Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and perform maintenance tasks for extended periods. Requires good manual dexterity and physical endurance. </li><li>Environmental Conditions: Work is performed indoors and outdoors under varying weather conditions. Regular exposure to noise, dust, mechanical hazards, and cleaning or maintenance chemicals. May require evening or weekend hours as needed for emergencies or events. </li></ul>
