DPS recruits and commits to educators with passion, who are committed to our vision to aspire to advance ALL learners to their highest potential.</p> <p>Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Teacher - Empowering Tomorrow's Innovators</p> <p>Danbury Public Schools is seeking a Project Lead the Way Teacher who brings energy, creativity, and a deep commitment to hands-on, inquiry-based learning in STEM education. This position plays a key role in engaging students through dynamic, project-based lessons designed to build critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. As a PLTW Teacher, you will lead students in exploring real-world challenges through the integration of engineering, biomedical science, and/or computer science. With access to tools like CAD software, 3D printers, and robotics equipment, students will design, experiment, and build solutions while developing a strong foundation in STEM disciplines.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Deliver the PLTW curriculum in pathways such as Engineering, Biomedical Science, or Computer Science, integrating it with core science instruction. </li><li>Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Danbury Board of Education. </li><li>Set and reinforce clear expectations and classroom routines to maintain a positive, productive learning environment. </li><li>Prepare and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum goals and tailored to meet the needs of all learners. </li><li>Demonstrate strong content knowledge of Science and STEM-based instruction. </li><li>Utilize technology, lab equipment, CAD software, 3D printers, and robotics to create interactive, hands-on learning experiences. </li><li>Manage classroom and individual student behavior effectively to support academic success. </li><li>Design and implement assessments to monitor student progress and guide instructional planning. </li><li>Maintain accurate and complete records in accordance with district policies. </li><li>Provide ongoing communication to parents/guardians about student progress through reports, conferences, and other methods. </li><li>Identify and implement interventions to support student learning when needed. </li><li>Collaborate with colleagues across content areas to support interdisciplinary instruction. </li><li>Maintain a classroom environment that encourages student inquiry, teamwork, and a growth mindset. </li><li>Participate in curriculum development and selection of instructional materials and equipment. </li><li>Attend professional development seminars and workshops to enhance instructional skills and student achievement. </li><li>Support and model ethical behavior and a positive school community image. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge/Skills</p> <ul> <li>Demonstrated success working with adolescent students in diverse, multicultural school settings. </li><li>Experience with team teaching and collaborative planning. </li><li>Ability to deliver instruction that promotes inquiry and problem-solving in science and STEM. </li><li>Strong communication skills-oral and written-with active listening and interpersonal effectiveness. </li><li>Proven organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Ability to create an inclusive, supportive classroom culture that reflects equity and respect for all students. </li><li>Familiarity with PLTW curriculum or similar STEM-based instructional models is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Valid Connecticut State Department of Education certification (034 Science, Grades 7-12). </li><li>Bachelor's degree in Science, Education, or related field required; Master's preferred. </li><li>Experience in a secondary school science setting, preferably with urban or multicultural populations. </li><li>Experience with or willingness to be trained in Project Lead the Way curriculum. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective instructional plans. </li><li>Commitment to continuous professional growth and student success. </li><li>Alternatives to the above qualifications may be considered by the Superintendent and/or Board of Education as appropriate. </li></ul> <p>Application Procedure:</p> <p>Apply Online</p> <p>Please go on-line at www.danbury.k12.ct.us job listings</p>
